Controversial Alton Towers Opinions

Sometimes, when I'm bored, I Google myself. Consequently, I've stumbled across this highly controversial and incredibly hurtful TripAdvisor review this morning.

Fess up, which one of you wrote it?

It could be general public (GP) not knowing there's a talking goose on the TowersStreet forums who reads these reviews? 😉🪿😜

In all seriousness, it likely is GP in this scenario like with the wasps

Not sure where to post this, but the Mirror should really face some sort of action from Alton Towers after a post on Facebook on their Weird News site used a picture of Oblivion under the words…
‘Rollercoasters aren't for everyone, in fact, one is so dangerous it reportedly kills its passengers.’

Let's call it Geese Towers. That will put their frivolous complaints to bed! @GooseOnTheLoose

I mean, the queueline of the ride itself, heavily implies that you do not return. Which in itself, implies you are killed or at least removed from the earth. So not sure what the issue is. We all know it not to be true, but that hasn't stopped Alton Towers themselves, implying that line since 1998.

Trying to make The Mirror face anything when Alton imply that themselves would be a complete non starter.

The worst part is the article is written and presented as if Oblivion is new…

You might all hate me for saying this but X-Sector is an ugly waste of space with its bland concrete 90s buildings and empty buildings and ride plots. The government testing facility and ministry of Joy have such potential but the area is just so boring and Oblivions boxy telly's really need an upgrade and the preshow a remaster

At least X Sector it has two great coasters and some unique theming about, World of David Walliams is the biggest waste of space with only 1 unique ride and the rest of the buildings unused

Since when has Oblivion had a pre show?

My unpopular opinion - Oblivion, Rita and Galactica all need to go
My second unpopular opinion - Thirteen isn't that great

Oblivion, Rita and Galactica
I would heavily disagree Oblivion is one of the better Dive Coasters. I really like Galactica contrasts Nemesis nicely being graceful and flowy plus its quite a unique layout and Rita is fun without Rita Towers wouldn't have a launch coaster plus Rita is still really popular

The real controversial opinion here is that you've suggested removal without replacement.

I'm not sure how that would address your concerns in your other post this morning....
Agree with this bits i've highlighted! You have to put things into the perspective of a "non-enthusiast" Has the park really changed? Like i said in my OP, I hadn't been in 6 years and it felt like there was barely anything new!

It's great they've managed to get the sky ride going again but then it was working the last time i went! Nemesis still the same ride just re-tracked and Toxicator is Ripsaw 2.0....

I've been going to the park since i was roughly 17, I remember Corkscrew, i remember when Oblivion opened, Air, The Smiler and Wicker Man! All rides that got the general public (and me) excited to visit the park, What have we got to look forward to now? It was 6 years between my last 2 visits and i genuinely don't know when my next one will be, for Britain's best theme park surely the aim is to get people coming back every year? But what's the point if there isn't major investment in a new ride?

And don't even get me started on the food.....

Why do they need to go? They’re all popular coasters that could likely operate for many more years, even decades.

If the issue is reliability then they need fixing, be it new trains for Galactica or whatever is needed.

Or is the issue space? I believe the park still has room to add major attractions without needing to remove existing ones first, especially with the impact that would have on capacity.
