Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

A POV of the Frozen ride is out already!

I haven't watched it yet (despite having been on the Hong Kong version which i believe is identical but in case there's any differences)

Don't think Annah likes speaking french she seems to have a crick in her neck just before the ice castle.

It's a perfectly serviceable ride but not e-ticket. 5 minutes jumping around a few scenes from the film. (But far from complete)

This is ment to be the glue for the whole new park/rename and rename and it's rather weak. That and a tea cups ride. It's funny to me that really the park is only up one ride effectively. As as soon as they open this new land they close the other frozen theater attraction.

Its not something I’d go on repeatedly but having been on it I’d disagree on the e-ticket status. It’s as much as Pirates is but boosted by the incredible popularity of the IP.

The park will be up by one very high throughput attraction, the teacups and also the wave swinger opening shortly after but don’t forget the land itself is part of the attraction and it’s a massive new space combined with the lake.

A bit like Harry Potter where people happily mill around the environment, enjoying the immersion and posing for photos.

The immersion will be quite different here for the 'frozen land' from what I've read it's ok. I think it also depends if you class Ratatouille as a e-ticket or have been to Epcot. The up swinger won't appear till next year I believe. So this year it's not quite on par with Pautons Park in my eyes who seem to invest and innovative (2+ rides plus a refurb)

Yes the new show could be good but I have a feeling that stripping the drones from Disneyland Park means they maybe worried to pull people over from the castle show. From my views of the show alot maybe disappointed because it seems only one area will have a clean projection screen of water.

Add to this the middle of the summer it will be light (blue hour) when the show is on and water is not a hard surface so the projection will almost be completely lost, it's kind of understandably going to be a bit of a disappointment for many in the summer months.

I'm just saying that this +1 attraction (closing other frozen attraction and meet and greet) is not going to change this park from a half day park that's arguably the worst Disney park to anything higher than worst park. Tell me a Disney park it's going to be better than?

While I agree the lion king land will possibly start changing this direction its still a long way off. Frozen took 7 years? Lion king is in year 2?

We enjoyed this park on our recent visit - the last hour before closing we could get Marvel, webs, ToT and crush done multiple times with minimal queues. I will miss that next time!

I didn’t realise the frozen show was closing. That’s annoying as we have never seen it.

My worry is the bottle neck in Disney village if everyone is exiting from BOTH parks at the same time. It was already bad enough after the fireworks with one. Maybe they both finish at different times although can’t imagine one being massively longer than the other?! We waited a good 10 minutes for the crowds to clear but still caught up with them.

I didn’t manage to see the drones - they were only on 1/3 times we were there due to “inclement weather” and I lucked out, but I could see the gaps in the show where they were supposed to be (and I hadn’t seen it before but still noticed). Hopefully they fill these gaps somehow!

Its going to be hugely popular this new Frozen land, especially for families with daughters.

Selfishly our family was hoping for Galaxy's Edge or Pandora though and we're far more intrigued by the Lion King attraction.

DLP cant lose though really with Frozen. The little ones will love it.

To claim that what Paultons is doing is somehow equivalent to this is ridiculous! Breaking it down to simply 'how many rides are being added vs how many are being removed' completely ignores the significance this development will have for the park.

Firstly the Frozen Ride / Land is a huge investment, that while not the most original will both draw a lot of people in and add a very high capacity ride that can handle the numbers, something the studios park desperately needs.
What's more important is that the park is expanding to double its size. Turning it from a strip of land you only visit to get on a few headline attractions to a park you might actually want to spend time exploring.
Sure when the new area opens it won't be enough alone to make the former studios park good. But it now has chance to grow into a park with its own identity. Anchored by Adventure Way, which will finally make the park feel more like a park and not a disjointed studio backlot.

Disney have probably spent 10 times more on the buildings, mountain and facades in this new land than they have on the actual boat ride if not more. That's just what they do. You can't really compare a regional UK park's new Viking area with this, I fully agree there with Tim.

A chair Swing themed to UP is a curious choice though for a flat ride installation. I have to say I don't really like the modern trend though with Disney of adding a 'brand new land' and only have one ride plus some live entertainment / meet and greets. There's no excuse really for not adding a supporting flat ride in the World of Frozen or maybe even a junior coaster along with the boat ride. Maybe that will come much further down the line though but I doubt it.

The coaster that Hong Kong got looks bloody terrible though.

A few support flats in the area wouldn't have gone amiss. But Disney have always been stingy with such attractions.

Tbh something of a Matterhorn bobsled would be a good ride for the frozen area being chased down from the north mountain by Elsa’s big friend …

Yeah that coaster is laughably bad in HK.

They know they can get away with it though. Disney fans are incredibly loyal even if they love a moan.

Had a flick through it; Olaf’s voice switching from English to French is very jarring. They have completely different voices!

It always baffles me how Disney will construct some of the most brilliant, well-done rock work and scenic construction for a coaster thats so short.

I would have thought in this situation the ride hardware was the cheaper bit..

Rather than shutting people down by saying it's ridiculous I'll argue you my point in terms of multiple factors:

1) this is notoriously a 1/2 day park with a off the shelf spinning coaster being the only true unique Disney ride. Adding 1 high capacity ride to increase that duration is hardly great at 7 years of building. I compare to PP because they have added a great themed area in less time that could appeal to more diverse range. My little nephew's are not interested in frozen, nor a teacups ride. To them the park hasn't improved.

2) while the extension is welcome it's very bare are review say it's a stark contrast from the old park to new adventure way and especially from cars to AB.

Its such a odd situation at Disneyland Paris. Disney Adventure World gets all the new rides and Disneyland Paris Park gets no new rides for over 20 years. Disneyland Paris Park is missing some staple Disney attractions Jungle Cruise, Splash Mountain and Indiana Jones Dark Ride.

It has always irritated me that the space at the back of Adventureland was specifically designed to fit the Indiana Jones Adventure ride, yet they've never actually just gone and built it.

Just that one easy addition alone would make a huge difference to the park.

DLP has been notoriously underfunded by the Disney Co because they know they can get away with it due to lack of competition.

Hopefully Universal UK is a booming success and takes some of their market share away from them. That can only be good for punters if they are forced to invest more.

I understand your context, although I still stick to my original statement. What Disney offers is a completely different product to Paultons. Yes it's crazy that they take 7 years to build one ride... but Disney aren't just building a ride, but a fully immersive environment:

Yes in the context of what your nephew is looking for Paultons is a more appealing park to return too. But Disney don't follow the same operational model as a regional park, they don't need guests to return every year when they are pulling from the whole of Europe. There's an expectation for them to do more, and a nicely themed Eurofighter definitely wouldn't hit that mark. You even hint at that yourself by referring to Crush as an off the shelf spinning coaster.

Let's also not forget that whilst Tower of Terror and Ratatouille are not unique they are world class rides. Frozen will be as well, brining the park up to 3 must do attractions. With a 4th only a few years away.

I suppose we're actually heading back into a period where this could be feasibly back on the table again. Given they are developing the new version of the Indiana Jones ride for Animal Kingdom, you've got to think it's probably crossed their minds to drop a version into other parks at the same time for logistical reasons.

Of course, overlaying and existing ride system is considerably different to sourcing and building a new ride using the same theme, but we are increasingly seeing Disney doing this more and more, what with Galaxy's Edge and Bayou Adventure amongst others. Probably most notably Frozen Ever After, which started as an overlay, but has since graduated to spawning versions from scratch.
