Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

Space Mountain new lighting is complete!

I haven't been to DLP in six or seven years and am planning a one-day trip in a couple of months. Just Disneyland Paris, not "Adventure World," which would effectively be another €30 just to ride Tower of Terror.

I can't really recall what we ate last time other than decent burgers for dinner at the faux 50s diner in Disney Village, but going through the list of food in and around the park it all looks pretty dire. Is there any food really worth going out of the way for, or should we just resign ourselves to popcorn and burgers for the day? Not super interested in the expensive prix fixe restaurants as the reviews look pretty mediocre for €55/person.

If Vapiano is the good option then things are looking worse than I thought! I remember Annette's being good enough for what it is, and the Royal Pub also has decent reviews, so one of those should be good enough for lunch and we can probably survive on popcorn and crepes for the rest of the time. Really funny that the Disneyland located in Paris, of all places, seemingly has the worst food options out of any of them.

Just wondering if anyone has any up to date info on when Frozen might open? Hoping to take my boys for the first time next year and trying to decide on a date! Littlest one will love the Frozen area.

There is a media event for Disney Adventure World (the new name for the Studios park) on 24th Nov. An opening date could well be announced then. 🤞

Thank you! I have a Family Fund grant to use because my eldest is autistic, and it has to be booked soon, but I'm pretty sure the deadline is after then. This really helps.

They’ve said Spring 2026 so if you book for later in the year you should be pretty safe. We’ve booked for August.

A brief update: I believe I got food poisoning from a cheese pizza at the pizza place in Adventureland. Thankfully it was our last meal of the day and the pain didn't hit until I was back at the hotel but not exactly an ideal situation. I'm not really sure what else it could have been as I felt extremely bad for a short period and then totally fine the next day. I'll spare you any further details but suffice it to say there were a few clues that made me think it was the pizza and not anything I had eaten earlier, or another type of ailment.

Beyond that, it was a very nice trip! I'd been to DLP twice before years ago but the weather was terrible on both occasions so this (an overcast day with really low overall crowds) was my first time to really explore the park. I've been to the original Disneyland dozens of times so it's a bit strange to see the same thing but somehow completely different; I got lost several times in Adventureland because my muscle memory of how to get places was obviously no good in this adjusted layout. I generally think a lot of the changes they made between Disneyland and Disney World were somewhat necessary but nevertheless detrimental to the overall feel of the park. Things like wider paths and more spread out lands make sense from a crowd control perspective but reduce the charm quite a bit, and I found that DLP seems to balance those pretty well.

I completely skipped the Studios/Adventure World park as it would have been an additional €30 per person just to go on Tower of Terror, which would also signal to Disney that they can charge €30 for such an abysmal park... no thank you. A small part of me wants to experience Cars Road Trip before it inevitably and rightfully gets destroyed but even that morbid curiosity wasn't enough to get me to cross the esplanade. No shade to anyone excited for the Frozen ride but since that one will likely be a clone of the Epcot/Hong Kong version and not the superior Tokyo one, the Lion King ride is going to have to be world class to make this a park I'd actually like to visit again.

The main park was in great shape, I didn't notice anything to complain about in terms of paint or maintenance or what have you. The food was pretty weak as anticipated. We had a decent lunch at the Royal Pub in Disney Village but all the other snacks were mediocre. We sat down for a beer and coffee at Victoria's on Main Street, which was pretty nice. Despite what Walt might have wanted, it is great to be able to have a cold drink in the park and not just at sit-down restaurants or overcrowded themed bars with 45-minute time limits.

The biggest surprise of the trip was how much I enjoyed the Parisian version of it's a small world. The original is simultaneously iconic and shorthand for "a ride that goes on too long and if it breaks down while you're in the middle you might go insane" and so I found the DLP one to be much tighter and more enjoyable in a less-is-more sort of way. This might have been the first time in my life I rode it's a small world twice in a single day which is pretty remarkable. Their version of Pirates is also great, it seems to reverse the story of the original, starting with the fort and the pirate battle instead of the long and slow intro through the caves. The drop directly into the middle of the battle between the ship and the fort was a great decision. Their version of Thunder Mountain is also incredible.

Pizza issues aside, the food issue is the biggest problem I have with the whole place. I imagine it's the same reason they haven't opened a new ride in 20 years: with a monopoly on all things Disney spanning the entire continent they don't really need to appeal to the social media contingent to keep people coming through the gates. I'll be back whenever the Lion King ride opens.
