Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

Supposedly The Lion King will be opening in 2028...

Disneyland participated in a documentary by the Walloon broadcaster RTL TVI about the developments at the French Disney resort: L'Aventure Secrète. The program aired last night. Viewers watched presenter Sandrine Corman get a behind-the-scenes look and talk with various Disney employees.

"An incredible new immersive world based on The Lion King is in preparation, as an exclusive world premiere ," an employee said on camera. Then we heard: "The world of the Lion King is planned for 2028 ," or: the Lion King world is scheduled for 2028. That seems like a slip of the tongue: when asked, Disney denied that the opening year has been set.

I was just thinking 2 years for Disneyland seems very quick 😂

2028 would make sense based on previous rumours and fact construction has now started. Plus some with insider based knowledge have indicated a major ride is finally planned for the original park (a Star Wars themed coaster is an option that keeps coming up) has been talked about for land at the back of Discoveryland for 2029- possibly announced at D23 next August.

I'm surprised Tokyo's Beauty and the Beast ride hasn't popped up at DLP yet. Especially with the French theme. It would fit perfectly on the route between Central Plaza and Fantasyland near where the original ride was earmarked

Aside from the old "money" excuse there was talk around the time of Ratatouille that DLP essentially had a choice of that or the B&tB attraction to be added.

Went for Ratatouille because of the dire state of the Studios park. But there's a plethora of attractions now they could install in the main park in those designated expansion plots.

I think the Japan parks have exclusivity due to their ownership. Whilst they have copied others rides, I’m not aware of any of their rides being replicated.

If I remember rightly, standard Disney policy is (or at least was) 5 years exclusivity for any attraction built outside of the US, to avoid cannibalising international markets.

Going forwards Adventure Worlds opening hours will match the main park for the first time.

Both night time shows will operate simultaneously too which is interesting.

The opening hours of Disneyland Paris will be changed next spring. When the Walt Disney Studios Park officially continues under the new name Disney Adventure World on Sunday 29 March, both parks will close structurally at the same time for the first time. Both Disneyland Park and the second park will close at 10:40 pm.
That time is related to evening shows in both parks, which will be shown at the same time. In Disneyland Park that is Disney Tales of Magic, while in Disney Adventure World the new evening spectacle Disney Cascade of Lights will be shown. Both productions must end before 11 pm due to the use of drones.

@Matt N looks like you’ll need 2 days after all if you want to see both shows!

The new map is here!

The magic carpets don't really fit anywhere, they aren't particularly part of the Hollywood-styled World Premiere Plaza unless you can shoe-horn an animation reference in.
and yes, way to much open space around that lake.

Headed to DLP for the very first time at the beginning of April, expecting it to be heaving but very excited for it!

We are going in the summer (but for the second time). I'm really excited as it was a complete building site on our previous visit but if it's anything like the version i saw in Hong Kong it's going to look incredible.

The park gets a lot of stick but i think it's going to be really cool by the end of the decade.

Once past ToT, you'll essentially have to walk through a huge no-man's land until you reach Frozen. Poor design.
Given that the resort is situated in Marne-la-Vallée, establishing a vast "no-man's land" is really just a touching tribute to the local history of September 1914.

It isn't poor design. It is immersive historical reenactment!

Let us just hope they don't have to commandeer a fleet of Parisian taxis to move the guests to the front lines

The Flying Carpets have always done my head in sat in the corner. Even more so that the area is now Worlds of Pixar. It's not hard to re-theme it to fit into the Pixar brand, even just Nemo themed or something to sit next to Crushes Coaster.

Even better so move it to Disneyland Park and pop it in Adventureland a la Magic Kingdom.
