Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

Does anyone know what the actual throughput for Crush’s Coaster is?

I mean we know it’s bad, but I’m interested to know just how bad.
It's a bog standard SC2000, with a twiddly bit inserted between the station and the lift. I doubt they were able to increase throughput beyond what the core track's block system can cope with, so according to RCDB, that'd be 930PPH.... at best.

They do hammer the cars out with the continuous loading and run it very efficiently (as Disney do with everything) but obviously they can only do what the coaster can do. Its not unusual for your car to slow down on the lift hills while it spaces out so they do a good job.

I know that doesn't answer anything but I just wanted to put my 50p in 😂

That did occur to me, but even if they can have more cars on track at any one time, surely the core block system will bottleneck everything?
Where's @John when you need his wisdom?

So the standard SC2000 can apparently run 8 cars. Does anyone know if Crush can squeeze more in?

It’s also worth noting that Crush has an extended station platform. Its capacity however remains woefully inadequate for a Disney park, especially since they sell Premier Access for it (for the bargain price of €21 per person) 🤣

The low capacity is why premier access is so expensive, if it was cheap then everyone would want to use it and the premier queue would be longer than the regular one.

Crush's block layout will be very similar to the standard model (at least between the main lift and the brake run) but it's hard to say exactly what the theoretical limit is - at a guess I'd say it'll be the main lift that sets the dispatch interval but I don't know if said interval is identical to the travelling one. Having a longer platform should allow them to get closer to that limit though as each car can spend longer in the station for a given dispatch interval, hopefully giving time to catch any potential issues before a car reaches the end of the station and has to stop.

Even with the longer station you're not going to get the cars out faster than about 1 every 15s, which would be 960/hr. When running smoothly, Spinball can consistently manage 20-25s which is in the 600-700 range. Really not great for a Disney coaster even before they added premier access to slow it down even more. The astronomical price point just reflects the otherwise high demand for a very limited availability. I imagine long exit queues could be a problem too.

Wasn't Crush's Coaster added due to a desperate need for new attractions over there?
If so, I am surprised that Disney opted for a model that wouldn't be able to process nearly as many people as the Disney standard.

I think the whole studios park was rushed for cheap to comply with frances contract (they had to build 3 parks within x amount of years, the first was a flop (although amazingly themed, when opened it was the best western disney park).
It cost them a lot of money and thus they had to cheap out and rush through using a lot of coppied rides and the movie theme to cheap out to get the seccond park done in time for the deadline, I don't recall what happened to the third park.

crushes coaster was one of the multiple attempts toi just stick one new ride in and hope it helps fix the park, they have recenly essentially rebuilt the park moslty from the ground up (with marvel, frozen and the lion king) to maske it on par

it is woefull considering disneys standards (I think big thundermountain is like 3000+pph)

I don't think it has particularly long left as most of the rest of the park has been rethemed, I could see an expansion of the world of pixar which causes it to close (e.g midway mainia is very popular, or another popular IP) or they retheme toon studio, as it dosn't look the best and it could do far better.

What would a brand new Disney park even look like these days? A 100% nothing-but-Marvel screen fest? No thanks!

There was talk when it first being built it was meant to have 2 tracks side by side like Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom.

Clearly the budget didn't stretch that far in the end.
It needs at least two tracks.

I notice Casey Jr only seems to be running one train these days, even at weekends, making it a capacity nightmare.

With 2 tracks I actually think Crush's Coaster would be a well regarded Paris exclusive. Riding the EAC is a solid concept and it's executed well. But my main memory of the ride was being disappointed it was never quiet enough to justify a re-ride.
