I'm not sure this is even speculation, really.

Didn't the planning docs essentially reference Land of the Tiger was under consideration for inclusion in the Minecraft expansion?

If I recall correctly the only reason it wasn't included in Phase 1 is because it would result in too much of the park shutting down at once. I.e. the docs heavily imply that the intention is for Minecraft to extend into this area eventually
I saw that it did mention both Trail of the Kings and Land of the Tiger as possible sites for Minecraft.

A factor I saw on the planning documents on why both were ruled out is the logistics of relocating large animals elsewhere.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tiger Rock's area became part of Minecraft eventually. Same with Tomb Blaster.

I can certainly imagine both a dark ride and a water ride both on the existing Tiger Rock and possibly Tomb Blaster sites as like for like or similar replacements for these rides.

I can't imagine another rollercoaster themed to Minecraft but not impossible.

Can't believe we've stooped so low for Chessington that we're excited for IPs replacing original themed rides...

I'd still take Tiger Rock over a Minecraft IP any day, and I grew up playing Minecraft.

I think this thread and the general consensus raises another interesting question.

Have any of the supposed upgrades or reimaginings at Chessington actually improved things?

I can think of Tiger Rock, Tomb Blaster, Room on the Broom, Gruffalo and Scorpion Express off the top of my head that are downgrades on their previous versions.

Have we ever seen an improvement?

I think maybe at a push Wild Asia over Beanoland (I was a massive Beano fan when I was a kid so this hurts to write haha). Possibly Terror Tomb over 5th Dimension (I have a vague memory of riding 5th Dimension as a child).

I think it depends on the ride really
  • Tiger Rock, I would say that is very different from Dragon Falls with it's theme although the latter is more immersive
  • Tomb Blaster, I've only ever been familiar with Tomb Blaster so can't comment
  • I haven't done Room on the Broom yet but it seems to work well for the target audience.
  • Gruffalo, I'm going to be honest and say that is a downgrade. The theme works for the target audience of the ride but what it used to be is a ride that multiple generations can enjoy which Gruffalo is more limited in that aspect. I'd also say that the theming is very hit and miss for the ride.
  • Scorpion Express, I think the concepts are very different but good. Whilst Runaway Train is a fantastic experience with the rockwork and tunnels, Scorpion Express had the giant Scorpion and fire effects which were incredible.
  • Wild Asia, I think this was a very good retheme of Beanoland and was the right move at the time. The addition of Kobra enhanced the area from what is was before.
  • Blue Barnacle appears to be a downgrade although I didn't do Black Buccaneer.
  • Rainforest, I'd say this is an upgrade from Toadie's Crazy Cars with the more adventure theme. The addition of River Rafts added to the area which was originally a vintage car ride (which was given a like for like replacement) and Treetop Hoppers which were integrated into the area well.
I definitely think Tiger Rock was a long overdue retheme and it at the time was incredible. I am hoping in the years to come that there may be a similar successor.

Mandrill Mayhem is an improvement on the picnic table.

Tiger Rock is looking so tired this year needs either a refurb, retheme or be retired the final one I hope not don't want to see another Flume go
