Pirate Adventure cost 3.5m In 1990.
Thanks for posting, a really good read.

I been doing many park updates since the start of the season and for the past 3 months a lot of work been done at the back and side of the pirate adventure. A lot of land has been cleared and the pirate adventure boats have been removed so I’m wondering if they been put back into the maintenance area.
Also this past week they been on the pirate adventure roof and some of the theming has been nicely removed so they can repair the roof.
Now reading that article this statement:
In terms of ride technology, Bryan says, “I think the whole VR thing is something of a flash in the pan, personally. It’s a good technology to add to an ageing ride to re-vamp it. It’s cheaper than buying a new ride and the content can be improved and updated, but I don’t think it’s a necessity. I think it’s nice to have, but not essential.”
Now they talk about a ageing ride to revamp and I think that’s the pirate adventure. It’s the only section of the theme park they been working on since April/May.
Also the rapids could be coming back if they win the court case against them.
You can’t say nothing happening around Pirate adventure as work men have been there since the start of the season. Even on Sunday the compressor room was open as could see a few maintenance staff In there while I was on the train to the farm.
I think that this seaside area and family track ride could be a good fit for Drayton Manor, personally! Whether you like the idea or not, it will certainly be more fitting for Drayton's new target audience than G-Force was.
The thing to remember is that Alton Towers and the like aren't really who Drayton is competing with anymore. They are competing for the younger family market, going up against the likes of Chessington, Legoland and Paultons Park amongst others. This will give them something additional for their core family market to do, so I think it could be a very good fit for the park!
Also, I feel that if the theme is executed well, it could be a better fit with surrounding attractions like Stormforce 10, Maelstrom and to a lesser extent Shockwave, as all of these kind of have seaside/fishing village themes like this new area will have! Also, "family track ride" could even mean some form of attraction with a nice storyline; what was it that @DistortAMG and @Sauron97 mentioned about Drayton needing to focus on immersive attractions a couple of pages back?
