Looking at the track from this angle it looks like it'll be Go-Karts because it's would be dead short for a transit ride and you can see a pit stop for the vehicles. I wouldn't be surprised now if these were pay to play either.

Certainly looks like a car / vehicle based ride to me. Maybe a mini driving school like Alton?

I can confirm that the new area is for a HB leisure Go kart game and I guess the name of the game will be Test Track.
Also G Force should be back open for the end of the month.
There having major problems with the grass on the outdoor play area.

Riiighht. So I had enough time for a bit of a visit to catch up on things today, and I thought I'd share some details that some of you might find interesting. (I've given up on not looking up stuff now, as I've stumbled across it all aready
)
Firstly: The Pirate Adventure photoshoot stocks have been repainted and have finally returned, but unlike the pirate wax figure, these have been placed by The Bounty.
Test Track is almost done now, and has progressed very fast; will be open soon. No time was taken to replace the Big Wheel it seems.
As Andy says, it is £1 per ride
The cars for G force have FINALLY returned but are currently split apart around the maintenance shed. Final stages of overhaul are underway now.
The cable cars sit inside the storage area behind the Vekoma madhouse building.
One of the Apocalypse cars.
And finally, some Stormforce and Splash Canyon boats were being stored in a fenced area around the back of Shockwave.

Let's hope it's for the short term :L, it's only for 3-10 year olds too.
Does anyone else want Apocalypse to be given a full repaint and more Oblivion type theming added? They need to put that net back around with the satellite dishes at the top.
Here it is in 2000, taken by DM themselves. I remember seeing it for the first time during this season and being amazed.
It was supposed to look like this, which was made by a concept artist for the park, but obviously the cables required structural changes when Intamin got involved so they had to rethink some of it.
I tried to freehand draw this concept image myself to allow myself to take it in more (I'm not that good I know, but I just enjoyed doing it)
I tried the old Maelstrom entrance too after I saw a really nice painting of it somewhere
Again, the submarine has seemingly gone from the Maelstrom entrance, which is a shame. I'd love to see them put it back.

Drayton removed the lowest output attractions in the park. The cable cars area is getting themed into the G Force area.
They really need to sort out Shockwave next

Drayton Manor know There market is thrill rides for guests over 1.2m tall and kids under that height.
Alton Towers can’t touch Drayton Manor for how many attractions they offer for kids under 1.2m and also there flat ride collection is so much better.

Thomas Land is great and they have a good selection of rides, but their roller coaster selection is severely lacking. I really liked Shockwave and managed to enjoy G Force despite the sore restraint, but they're both too short.
Roller coasters attract me to a theme park, flat rides are almost always just "nice to have" as extras. I would pick Towers over Drayton any day of the week. If I had a young child with me though I'd go for Drayton.

While I too have no intention to return to DMP until they invest in something a little more dynamic, they absolutely provide an alternative to Alton Towers, and were well ahead of the curve with Thomas Land.

I recently visited my brother and sister-in-law and was chatting about this. They've had Merlin passes for several years (2x adult + 1x child) but this year they will not be renewing because my nephew is in that height gap between 1.2 and 1.4 metres. At Alton Towers there just isn't that much for him to do, so this year they'll be going to other attractions including Drayton Manor instead.

That’s the reason we got a Drayton Manor season pass as my little girl is just 1.1m tall now. At Drayton Manor she can go on 28 out of 37 rides but at Alton Towers she can go on 16 out of 24 rides but been 6 next month she’s too old now for most of CBeebies land.
