Drayton Manor Park

My apprentice is great. Lets not broad brush entire groups of people?

Parks will use seasonal young staff. They will vary and clearly if there's an issue they should be being managed better to prevent such a thing being able to happen.

Drayton is lumbered with low throughput older rides. jormungander, air race, The Wave, Accelerator, the haunting & Storm Force 10 are all examples.

The park could really do with a high throughput dark ride but at the same time there is no excuse for slow ops on Goldrush

The park really need to focus on improving ops as the park itself is in good shape and seems to be pulling in families

As I said a few pages back the RPH has increased on the Haunting as now they got a extra member of staff on there so as when the Library room has finished they loading the next group of riders on the haunting so when it’s busy it’s gone from 112ph to 224ph now that’s not a lot when you compare to other rides on park but it’s better than before.

They could speed it up a heck of a lot of they stopped asking "IS EVERYBODY OK TO CONTINUE?!" at the end of every story element...

They need to I have seen many kids cry on the Haunting.
I cry every time on The Haunting IS EVERYBODY OK TO CONTINUE?!: The Ride too... over the state of how terrible it is.
They have to do that as many times kids have wanted to leave after they been in the library room.
No other ride does this, which actually makes it worse. It makes you think that something terrible IS going to happen, but the crypt is one of the most comically awful experiences in any theme park...

I guess by that measure something terrible does happen, but it's certainly nothing to do with being scared.

It’s usually the spirit in the picture that scares the kids the most. My son hates the 2 smoke machines in both the rooms.

I agree. I once aired this same opinion on the Drayton Talk forums. The response I got from some deluded person on there, was basically, 'how dare you speak negatively of Drayton Manor and hurt the feelings of people who have worked hard on the ride at the park."

😅

Thought i was in North Korea for a moment.

To be fair, I've seen kids cry at the second pre-show with the paintings in particular and want to leave, so I can perhaps understand their rationale behind asking in this instance.

I may have told this story before, but on my visit to Drayton last September, I was going around The Haunting with two families with young children. Both families' children were petrified by the second pre-show and wanted to leave... so I ended up riding the ride portion of The Haunting entirely by myself! That was an utterly eerie experience given how large those Madhouses are...

On a side note, have they reversed one of the recent refurbishments on there? I rode it in 2022, and the pre-shows had a Dr Ghostman character speaking in them, but in 2024, the first pre-show looked far more retro, the corridor had no dialogue at all, and Dr Ghostman was nowhere to be seen.

Other attractions don't do it.

Why didnt they include it in the intro video or have signs, rather than destroying the little immersion the ride has, again and again, usually shouted by some half arsed, underpaid and couldn't care less attitude member of staff.

If they insist on doing it, there are ways to manage it much better. Drayton insist on doint it worst possible way imaginable though.

yes Dr Ghostman is now there for like 5 seconds replaced with the 1996 Dr X and they have brought back the old story and audio

The Haunting is a mis-match of an attraction now and don’t help that they claim the house was built before the 1800’s so it don’t need to be themed to fit the Western Theme.
The Queue line is playing the original 1996 music which is a nice touch but they still got the awful garden shed, RIPA signage and the trailer. Then you got the cellar which hasn’t worked since last season.
The pre show trailer works well with the Dr X taking over Dr Ghostman and the red sirens work again.
The Skeleton corridor plays the original music and effects but the uv lighting ruins the scene.
The Library is nearly the same from the 2018 version with added audio from the original version.
The Ride section has the original audio which is a nice tribute to Colin Bryan as it’s his voice but the effects in there are awful and the projectors haven’t worked for around 2 years. The tomb is the best now when you compare it to the bats on sticks and the hand from the 2016 version.
Not sure if the air lines are still on the ride(was used to make it sound like the bats were flying around.
They really need to decide what to do with it as it will be 30 years old next year.

I hope they fix it up , it’s unique and what would replace it? Another off the shelf flat I would assume.
Drayton are well fixed for flats. They need capacity per hour and unique attractions

It takes Kassandra's....violation to make a worse Madhouse. Every time I've done Haunting it has been absolutely awful.

The ride itself works fine they just need to decide what story line route the ride needs to go down as it’s a mixer of 1996,2004,2016 and 2018 versions in 1 now.
It’s the same with Accelerator the outside is starting to look part of the Western theme but the inside except the brown paint

on top of that you got the head return from 2019 and also the old libaryguy demon or something like that voice lines from 1996 throughout the ride
