Efteling: General Discussion

Going for the first time at the end of the month for 2 days, any tips and tricks for a first timer?
What surprised me was how close some of the coasters are together, namely Python, Joris en de Draak and De Vliegende Hollander. Time it right and you could get on all three in a short space of time. Also if you have early access, I would head to Danse Macabre first before the queue gets too long. They also do single rider on DM, which is something to bear in mind. Make sure you also try the little cooking vending machines, where you can get warm snacks for around 2 euros.

Yes and when you have finished your snacks find one of the talking "Papier Hier" bins to deposit your packaging. Only don't get your hand stuck in it like I did...

Worth making use of the Danse Macabre virtual queue assuming they are still operating it (I can't keep track these days!)

Would recommend leaving Danse Macabre until the evening if you can. It looks amazing at night, and the queue line is extra spooky. However we planned in to queue for 60mins at the end so depends if you want to queue for that long. Pancake restaurant was good (next to Symbolica). Might have to book, however we chanced it and got a seat pretty quickly.

Fairytale forest is huge, think we spent nearly 2 hours in there.

We did the pancake restaurant one evening… without booking and got in quite quickly. And I forgot about the Danse Macabre virtual queue line, which we utilised a few times. We spent around two hours in the Fairytale Forest and still didn’t see everything.

Get the app - not just for the virtual queue, live queuing times and the map, but I think it now offers live written English translation of the Dutch preshows e.g. Danse Macabre, Symoblica, Villa Volta etc. If you are a ride photos person, it's also how to manage those as well.
The park is larger than you think, including the Fairytale Forest. Pace yourself.
I've never needed a restaurant reservation, but you can make them if you want. Some of them also you can order via the app and click and collect. Also if you have no dinner plans, Efteling normally keeps a few of the restaurants in the park open after park close such as the Italian by the entrance.
Raveleijn is also being refreshed shortly so if you want to experience Medieval Dutch Power Rangers on Horseback, now is your last chance. If the park is busy, do show up in good time.
Be mindful of the wind when watching Aquanura if you want to stay dry.
