Essential European Parks

What parks do people think are the essential ones to visit in Europe?

From my research i've compiled the following list (with personal comments) but wondering if i'm missing anything obvious:

- Disneyland Paris ✅
- Efteling ✅
- Europa Park (planned next year)
- Phantasialand ✅ (imminently)
- Liseberg (will probably wait for water park)

Then secondary tier i'd have:

- Plopsaland De Panne ✅
- Port Aventura (Will revisit once 1.4m but put off by reviews)
- Tivoli (Maybe next year)
- Energylandia (Will revisit once 1.4m)
- Walibi Belgium (Likely next year)
- Parc Asterix (Hard to justify when Disney is next door)
- Parque Warner Madrid (Maybe but put off by reviews)
- Gardaland (Will revisit once 1.4m)

Not that I've been to them, but I would say...

- Toverland is probably the other main one in the Netherlands.
- Heide Park as a 3rd possibility for Germany.
- Grona Lund as a 2nd choice in Sweden.
- Mirabilandia as another option in Italy.

A 3rd choice for Sweden is Kolmarden, especially if you like animals as well as coasters.

I've looked at the first three. They all seem fine but nothing worth a dedicated trip i don't think. Actually i've technically been to Grona Lund years again on a work trip though only went on a few rides.

Will check Mirabilandia though i think i've looked into that one before, is it the one that's very close to Gardaland?

Not that close (I think you might be thinking of Movieland?) Mirabilandia is the one near Ravenna, with the big B&M Katun.
About 3/4 hours from Gardaland to Mirabilandia. When I went we stopped in Bologna over night when we travelled between the two.

Think for must do European Parks

Disney (ironic as I've still not been)
Efteling
Europa Park
Phantasialand
Liseberg
Tivoli Gardens

Think after those its down to preference and what you're looking for but I'd say

Toverland
Walibi Holland
Walibi Belgium
Gardaland
Parc Asterix
Wiener Prater
Gronalund
Plopsaland Belgium (De Panne)

Think its difficult as there's so many delightful parks I've been around Europe.

Katun and iSpeed are a great pair of headline coasters, one's an old school B&M and the other is like a mini Maverick. Mirabilandia deffo needs to be in the list.

Plopsa Deutschland also needs to be on the list, it's like De Panne but with a better headline coaster. Unfortunately, like De Panne, the rest of the park is a bit rubbish.

Asterix is great, plus they're getting another new coaster in 2028.

I'd also recommend Djurs and Farup. Both solid parks with some good hardware in (Piraten, DrageKongen, Thor's Hammer, Fonix, Lynet, Orkanen, Saven)

Bellewaerde is also a good park.

Wiener Prater

Not heard of this, another to investigate.

I’m sure they are but personally I think they need to be as good if not better than the UK offerings to motivate me to visit beyond being different.

One killer coaster doesn’t cut it as it’s too risky travelling that far for a single ride.

Have a lot of € to hand if you do go. It's all pay per ride. Lots of generic coasters but also home to a scenic railway, Gengse Sau, and the recently opened Wiener Looping.
Loads of dark rides and zany flat rides as well. Plus a world famous big wheel.

Amazing place when it up at night as well, and right in the middle of Vienna.

You'd do both Danish parks alongside Tivoli Friheden, Lego House and Legoland Billund. Plenty of good things and a nice trip.

We teamed Bellewaerde and Plopsa De Panne, but you could also tie it in with Walibi Belgium or some Northern French parks like Loos Parc and Bagatelle.

This is a good point and something we were actually going to do so thanks for the reminder!

Lots here I either haven’t heard of or know little about so I have my work cut out!

Think that's the most fun at times, you'll visit that big park you've always wanted to and add in a few smaller parks and its always those little places with the local oddities and great service you'll remember long after the trip.

There's a lot of quirky parks in Europe many of them great. And yet I still haven't done them all.

Yet to do
Portaventura World
Land of Legends
Korsen Adasi
Tusenfryd
Bakken
Slagharen
Tivoli Gardens
Legoland Parks

And more, probably the one I am most of need in visiting is Portaventura I have been to Japan and USA yet never been to Portaventura been on Hollywood Dream the Ride before Shambhala.
