This was our first ever visit to Europa park. We decided to go on what people on this forum had been saying about it.
Myself, my wife Carla and her brother Lee went to stay in EP in hotel Bell Rock for 3 nights.
We booked an economy room as it was the cheapest option for us. But also there was a 20% discount on the price because it was a special offer.
When deciding where to fly from I found out that it is possible to fly from London city airport to Basel. We have never flown from LCY before and as it was only about £10 more expensive.
Its a lovely little airport, it took us about 10 mins to walk from the travelodge to the airport terminal. To do the bag drop off and get through security it took us about 10 mins. So quick and easy! Its very nice inside and there is a great view of the runway and airfield operations.
We were almost the 3 worst dressed people in the airport but thankfully we did get beaten to that title. The airport is 99% business people so there are lots of suits there.
The flight was quick and easy, only 1 hour 10 mins. ;D
LEGROOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting off at Basel was easy and quick. We had booked a transfer from the airport to EP, the guy was waiting for us with a sign with my name, he was hoping that it was Lukas Podolski. But no such luck. The taxi driver did not speak much English and we don't speak much German but we did manage to communicate about things ok.
Checking into Bell Rock was great, very easy and the hotel is amazing. The guy that checked us in helped us sort out our park tickets as we had ordered 2 day tickets and just planned to get the after 2pm tickets. But he told us getting 3 day tickets would cost the same and we could go into the park right away. It was about 12:30 when we checked in.
We left our luggage in the left luggage room and headed off.
The park is amazing. It is so clean and tidy. I hardly saw any litter during our time there. All the bathrooms are spotless, there are often people in there cleaning. The themeing is stunning. All the areas are well themed and they blend well into each other.
I will leave reviewing the rides for another time as our first visit was only a few hours really.
When we got back to the hotel we collected our luggage and our room key cards and headed up to the room.
It was a lovely room on the first floor. Clean and tidy and everything was lovely. So much attention to detail.
our amazing view of a brick wall
The boat bunkbeds that are big enough for an adult. Also the sliding room divider that allows you to watch someone have a shower
Unfortunately Lee was not very well so he stayed in the room while Carla and I went to Harbourside for a meal.
The food was very good. I found some lovely steak on the African grill part. All the food was really nice and it was not too bad for 30euros a person.
Again the decorations in the restaurant were amazing! Just stuff everywhere! Its stunning.
Meeting the captain on the way out, saluting with my left hand feel horrible, its not right!!
That was it for the first day. I will do some more when I have the time.
