Billington even managed to dupe theme park giants Alton Towers after tweeting them saying: 'Looking forward to opening/attending @altontowers tomorrow! Britain's best theme park in great #Staffordshire.'

They responded with: '@mayorofstafford We look forward to seeing you for our £OpeningWeekend! It's going to be great! .'

Was that a Freudian slip there?

When I first read the title of this topic I imagagined it being one of the entertainment staff not a member of the public but fair play to him. Anyway, this gave me the idea wouldn't it be a cool Alton Towers twist to have someone playing the part of eccentric mayor opening the theme park each day!

I see Cllr Jon Tandy a lot during my working week and he's a really nice, friendly chap. Not nice to make fun of the guy's physical look, though. I hope he wasn't too offended.
