Yes and my point was why not cut back on all this hired stuff... To hire and install it costs a fortune and requires alot of rigging. Why not have an emphasis on fireworks over lighting and effects? Alot less setup and hire costs that way.
I'll go back to my example above. The massive fuego is impressive, but backed by lighting design etc,
A well rounded show uses many elements to build a story. Not just 1 or 2 pieces, but lots of smaller pieces to make up a whole. Such as the stage above can also do this, as well as have all the fire.

It's like saying, why not just have a metal box for a station instead of the alien on Nemesis? Focus on the coaster? That's because the ability to do many things makes a rounded package that impresses more than just doing 1 thing well.
