First SW to be Removed?

I agree that Galactica will most likely be the first SW to go, not just because of the VR and unexciting layout (though I can't deny that it really does feel like flying which is what they were going for), but because of the land in which it is situated in. Call me hopeful but within the next few years I can see Forbidden Valley being revamped following the refurbishment of Nemesis, potentially re-opening/theming Sub Terra and introducing a new ride that fits the theme more cohesively. Of course this is horribly optimistic but I see a brighter future regarding theming after Wicker Man opens and I feel like the park may make more of an effort in order to deliver areas that all fit a single theme.

And yeah, Rita will almost certainly go before anything else.

No way, Air is here is here to stay, it's the only of one of it's kind in the UK and nothing else touches it within Europe. It's a fantastic flying coaster and very well built. The ride is smooth, gets you close to the ground and much like the original advert, it really gives you the sense of flying.

Yes galactica kind of stalled it, maybe they could have re advertised it in some way instead, however it now offers two experiences, with or without. This breathes new life into the coaster which I love and one which I find fits perfect into the Valley.

(grouping of coasters though, I think they've got wrong, although the terrain answers the questions). I'd have grouped Oblivion and Air together and Nemesis and Smiler, there's extreme and extreme+ sitting there for an area of the park.
 
Galactica in its current guise won't last much longer. And Rita and Spinball will leave before any of the SW's. But just concerning the SW's, and in terms of the actual ride hardware, Smiler will probably go first.

I agree that the next major coaster will be on the Air site of Forbidden Valley, as it’s location would make it relatively easy to construct on. Not sure if it will be an SW though.
 
Hey, you never know, the next SW could actually go on the Rita site and not on the Galactica site, or could even be in an area we haven't seen utilised yet. The removal of Galactica would also see the removal or relocation of the Rollercoaster Restaurant, and both still seem to be rather popular with guests. I believe The Smiler will just get to the point where it's just not cost-effective to run, while the three B&Ms will last long into the future.

The B&Ms could go forever if they want to - hopefully nemesis will!! I would agree that The Smiler will start to cost a lot soon as new trains or even a re-track could be necessary in the medium term. Interesting point about the Rita site though. I hadn’t really considered it but I suppose there is lots of expansion room in Dark Forest if needed.
 
If all the buildings in Dark forest and Rita were removed then there's a sizeable bit of land there for a coaster. However it's really close to the Fountain Square, on reasonably high ground and the Sky Ride operates above it. It would need a bloody big hole and would still need to take all those other obstacles into consideration so it would be hard to build a new SW on the Rita site but not impossible.
 
For me, flatten Dark Forest and start again. Such wasted potential. I'd rather them build one big experience type ride like Wickerman, rather than have two very mediocre rides like Rita and Thirteen. I think we need to look at Phantasialand for inspiration.
 
Think the park needs more attractions right now, not less!

I do think that SW9 could be a Rita replacement though. In a perfect world I'd like to see a launched RMC that utilises the valley, like a hybrid between Wildfire and Lightning Rod.

Hopefully the level of theming on Wicker Man is the standard for future projects at Towers now.
 
Yeah true, i didn't think about the queues. I'd love the prospect of an RMC but i do worry about the launched variety after all the problems that lightning rod had initially. I'd rather see something like Time Traveller or (maybe an unpopular suggestion) a launched B&M Wing Coaster like Thunderbird.
 
Remove Rita and you can then alter 13s queueline instead of the mess it is currently and you've created an enormous space.

Time Traveller would be great but I can't see them having two spinning coasters at the same time, so unless they remove Spinball as well I'd go for an Intamin Blitz coaster instead.
 
Would be great to see Sub-terra back open, sadly I cannot see this happening. Merlin should remove attractions which clearly have no operational future.
 
I also wouldnt be too bothered if the Smiler went first. It gets rougher year after year and its not the most re-rideable of rides compared to the others in the park. Would love to see a decent dark ride put back there instead.
 
Realistically, TH13TEEN will probably be the first SW to go. The ride has always had problems with downtime, usually to do with the drop section. It doesn’t appear to attract the crowds that much these days either. Thing is, the concept of it was brilliant, but poorly executed. The outdoor section is forgettable and the track drop is somewhat underwhelming. I’d imagine it would be removed alongside Rita to make way for a new themed area. Though it’s worth mentioning I’m not suggesting anything like that would happen for at least 10 years.
 
The more I think of this the more I think the Wickerman nemesis and oblivion are the only safe rides

All the others have their faults either theme wise or hardware wise. Air is now in the way of future expansion

I think it will be Nemmy. 24 years old now. However it's not all bad news because they'd be absolutely crazy to not just simply rebuild it like what they did with Hulk in Universal. It's just that iconic of a ride. Nowhere near the tallest invert in the world but still one of the best and I have ridden a lot of them.
 
If there were any justice in the world, Nemmie would be immortal and it is amazing that so many of us think the first and oldest SW would be the last to leave, but the realist in my says this probably won't be the case.

Totally agree with Benjsh - when the time comes, just retracing it with the same layout.

Hopefully with the pit dug and the plans still on the B and M's database, it would cost a fraction of an original design as it is the only way that Merlin would do it.

That said, would an identical track replacement of Nemmie be Nemmie?
