Futuroscope 2025: Mission Bermudes (Mack Rocking Boat)

Doesn't look like this has been posted, but I have just come across this concept image on RCDB which gives a good overview of the coaster:

I am intrigued to see what this is all about in the summer!

EDIT: If the image is not showing, it can be seen HERE.

This coaster opened on 13th June.

In other news, Futuroscope has announced a huge €304m expansion plan, with three major attractions by 2025, followed by two themed hotels and a water park: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https://themeparks-eu.com/news/plans-for-a-304-million-euro-transformation-of-futuroscope&h=AT22RNXXHU634Io82uM5ahBLR9cV5X5LtISA_3Nc7IYKnjyJTyVyAkCtD1U6cTCtLV8Ql6nrrb4U5JSMiYDWgNFjd98nIkg-engZhQqyovd_Y3HglyZT2knuoVn5EB4&s=1

Very exciting! This park will be one to watch for sure!

Thanks for bumping this Matt, reminded me that the thread existed!

A POV was posted a few weeks back of Objectif Mars, and very bizarre it looks too. I look forward to riding it next month.

Having watched that POV, it feels a bit like X no way out with the rooms of Valhalla (fire and lightning), the concrete and station theme of the Smiler and the the Thirteen drop. Shame there doesn’t seem to be any lighting control in that drop though it felt too bright both before and after the drop took place.

I’ve not been to Futuroscope since my French exchange and back then it was fun to see all the different styles of cinema theatre, it’s interesting to see how they are adding to the park.

So they've taken the lithium batteries out, presumably to prevent riders being roasted in the future?

That's all very well, but how many other ride vehicles out there have similar battery power under the seats? This feels like it could be a bigger issue.

Pretty much anything with onboard lights and audio that isn't a powered coaster I imagine?
Onboard lighting on coasters tends to be powered by supercapacitors, which are recharged from contacts in the station on each cycle. Suspect the same is true for on-ride audio as well, given that that won't be high current draw.

Futuroscope’s water park, Aquascope, opened today (short video filmed by local TV below):

Very much in keeping with the space theme, it has eight slides and a lazy river, most of them with projections and screens. Whole thing cost €57 million.

More pics and an artist’s impression CGI flythrough here:

It really does look like a very exciting addition for the park. I can't wait to see how the final product turns out, and then for EP to get one in the coming years.

Looks like a very interesting addition. Thinking about tagging Futuroscope onto the end of Puy du Fou trip next summer, any tips from people who have been?
Yes, what would you like to know.

I'm a regular at both parks!

Thank you!

Currently thinking 3 days at Puy du Fou and then a day at Futroscope but not sure if this is the right split. Open to advise on how many days you need at each. Very much a see-everything traveler.
Any tips on best accommodation for Puy du Fou - thinking onsite but not sure which one
Is Futroscope worth it? It looks like a cool park but is it good enough to justify the extra drive down from Puy du Fou.
Are the dinner shows worth it at Puy du Fou?

3 days is sufficient for Puy du Fou, although consider how busy it will be when you visit. Even in the quietest days you cannot physically do the entire park in a day, so if you’d like to do everything and have time for relaxation 3 is the sweet spot. There are plenty of spaces to sit back and relax where you can lose an entire afternoon - the wine barn in the Medieval village being one of the best. I’d recommend Les Iles de Clovis for accommodation - it’s a good mix of price and location value (it’s not too far from the hotel entrance). Get the app, you’ll need it to plan your day - it can otherwise be quite overwhelming on a first visit. We’ve only done the dinner show at the Puy du Fou in Spain, but the food and entertainment were both good.

You can do Futuroscope in a day provided it’s quiet. If it’s busier, you may struggle depending on opening hours. I’d definitely recommend the visit though, it is a delightfully different, uniquely French theme park, with a dash of Epcot inspiration. I can’t really recommend the park hotels, there are better and cheaper options nearby; there is a delightful B&B in Jaunay-Marigny for example.
