General Queue Times Discussion 2023

Perhaps the weather might be playing a role today? I don’t know what Alton is like, but it’s bucketing down with rain here in Gloucestershire…

I'm from the forest too and I'd hardly say it's bucketing it's just a little drizzle but yeah hopefully it won't be much busier when I go next week.
 
Weird how you guys are discussing hour long queues in the UK as though that's quiet.

Linnenmaki yesterday had walk on queues across the board. In fact, many of the European parks would have to be exceptionally busy to have such long queues.

It's weird how in the UK we seem to accept these silly wait times as the norm. The only country that's similar is the US.
 
What about phantasialand I'm gonna try my best to do next year only other park outside of England I've done was bellawaerde on a school trip many years ago

If you're talking about queues, I'd have to recommend Europa Park. During my 3 day trip in April, a 40 minute queue for Wodan was considered "long", and all of their queues move at an extraordinary pace even if they are on the longer side!

Not to mention that it's an absolutely astounding park and resort even putting queues and operations aside... and they're building a lovely new coaster for 2023!
 
Fuji Q surely has the longest queues in the world? It's been a notorious aspect of the park for decades.

The queue times we've been seeing recently at Alton feel about right for the latter half of the summer holidays to me.

But I wonder though if there is something cultural in that in regards to queuing being a very accepted part of Japanese culture in general? Perhaps it’s seen as a fundamental part of the experience in visiting a theme park.

I get the impression that Japan has a very H&S heavy culture, which makes operations slower on rides. I know Fuji-Q Highland certainly has lots of H&S procedures, and I seem to remember hearing that Nagashima Spa Land does too.

I’m not sure about H&S at Universal Studios Japan, but I’m aware that long queues are commonplace there too; I seem to remember hearing that even now, multi hour queues are quite common on rides like Flying Dinosaur.

I’ve never been to Japan, though, so if anybody on here has been to Japan and would like to correct me, then feel free; I’m just basing this off of what I’ve seen and read.
 
Nagashima and Fuji-Q are both unbearably slow on many of their major rides. Disney and Universal run their rides flat out, they just get absurdly busy and get massive queues as a result.

Closer to home, I don't think long queues are particularly a UK thing. I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple attractions with 1hr+ queues at several other European parks at peak times:

EP - Wodan/Arthur/Blue Fire/Poseidon/Fjord
Phantasialand - Taron/Fly/Chiapas/River Quest
Efteling - Joris/Baron/DvH
Parc Asterix - T2Z, Pegase, Discobelix

The only difference we have is that we have parks where family rides are getting horrendous waits as opposed to thrill rides, that's mainly because LLW and CWoA are dreadfully operated.
 
The queue times section of the app is unavailable currently. Could that be connected to the CCTV and Freestyle issues?
