Haunted House POV thread

Seriously, how long does it need to take to get a decent POV of the Haunted House?
I last had one back around 2003 which got lost when my harddrive failed.
Since then i've looked long and hard for a FULL Pov and not come across one :(

Anyhow, post your links here and it'll be good to get them all together.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G48snYkxmwY - 1996, Good segment at the start!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDF5lNOVBvs - 1994-96, about 1.38 in. Shame it's all cut up :(

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfuF4E35df0&list=LL4G-S9NNhOQQm8y6kLp8OLw -1993, great footage of the fireplace + ride in it's early days

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amfbSaMm0mo - 1992, before most of the uv was stripped from sections and replaced with tungsten paint.

Post any more and i'll add them to the list!

I would expect no one has made a decent POV because its dark in there, and you would need a decent camera with a IR light on it

Those videos are great,I'm guessing they turned it into duel because it's more re rideable because you can try and top your score

Post any more and i'll add them to the list! Its great also to see the entertainment on Towers Street and Theo an original character who was meant to drive the runaway train so much thought was put into entertainment then .

It so great to see all the entertainment on Towers Street and how busy it was with henry Hound and all the characters out and the names of the shops called Henry's gift shop etc how things have changed. It was really magical .Lovely

Great little find here, very low quality but a rare look into the Haunted House in its earliest incarnation, 51 mins in

There's a shot of the old Flying Ghost as he's spattered against the wall. Also if you look closely towards the end you can see the swamp monster in action.

Not only the music but the sound effects were so abundant and loud! The spider corridor had this creepy shimmering strings along with the phantom jellyfish popping up screaming.
Its such a shame a full length decent video hasn't surfaced so far, wonder if HauntedOne has one in his archives?

I don't think there is one.

I looked when visiting the archives a few years ago but failed to find one.

The spider corridor sound effects are hideous!

I did have one years ago which was a full ride through, but I lost it when my harddrive failed. I think it was Andys Page who sent it me. (If you remember him).

Best bet is to reach out to people with home videos, or looking for the raw footage shot for promotional purposes.

Every time I see a POV of the old Haunted House it makes me wonder why they would choose to ruin such an amazing ride by adding stupid guns to it. :(

I know the people who voiced the effects in the ride still keep their original tapes and yes the SFX certainly were spooky! There was an effort to restore the spider SFX to the ride not long ago.

Much of the ride's A/V system was bespoke and lots clever thinking was employed to make the audio side of things work precisely with the scene changes, pace changes and lighting cues. :)

You'll notice in that video you can't actually see or hear the flying ghost, only the reprise of the character against the wall, probably because even by that point the effect had been turned off or was out for modifications.

I've never seen a full POV, but the House was always changing so a glimpse of the very first incarnation of the ride (like, literally just it's first few months of operation) would be so rare that you'd probably only see it in professionally-shot promo stuff.

Good footage of HH (Haunted House) and the sounds back then were really scary, don't suppose many people were screaming in this ride. Have you tried watching "British Dark Rides" documentary, it's all focused on The Haunted House.

It is amazing to look at the likes of Disney parks globally, Efteling, Europa-Park... where they respect the traditional/nostalgia of the rides. The fact that parents go on rides then so too do the children, and their children.

This is where the attitude towards the Haunted House was floored.

I hope the same never happens to Hex.
