To be fair I heard (sorry for the vagueness) that a vehicle was accidentally driven into it and the drum was bent out shape beyond repair. So not so much a lack of maintenance. If this is true that is.
But if the ride has operated in 2023 and sporadically in 2022, surely it wasn’t so bent out of shape after this hit that the ride couldn’t run at all?To be fair I heard (sorry for the vagueness) that a vehicle was accidentally driven into it and the drum was bent out shape beyond repair. Do we have an actual source for this rumour, or are we back with random comments from the nice baggage lady at the hotel reception again? To be fair I heard (sorry for the vagueness) that a vehicle was accidentally driven into it and the drum was bent out shape beyond repair. To the ride building I understand, but to the ride system itself? This vehicle must have gone through the tin wall if true and surely someone would have noticed a large gash on the show building by now so this just seems not to be true.To be fair I heard (sorry for the vagueness) that a vehicle was accidentally driven into it and the drum was bent out shape beyond repair. They’re going to butcher it and fill it with lots of terrible lighting, in the ongoing health and safety farce that is Alton towers…
See monorail batching
Absurdly high fences
Over usage of signage
New lighting with Alton Manor
Sealed off towers
For more evidence…
Just a hunch

I believe the park have purchased a whole new Madhouse for Hex. Goodness knows how they'll swap them, mind.So I have a friend from another website / forum who was at an event recently. The indication is Hex and the Sky Ride are to be fixed / refurbished after Nemesis. So I wouldn't count on either being open next year.
Source?I believe the park have purchased a whole new Madhouse for Hex. Goodness knows how they'll swap them, mind.
plausible based on what was said to my friendSource?
Even if they have purchased a whole new drum, surely that would mean redoing the theming inside from scratch?
As much as it'd be an opportunity to freshen up the ride after nearly 25 years, with some updated theming. I don't know if I could trust them to do it to the same standard as before. Maybe I'm just cynical after living through the years of Merlin PLC, but I just can't see it being a financially viable option for them.
Agreed, it is basically the equivalent of not bothering to get your car serviced for five years and then being surprised when it breaks down and you have a repair bill as long as your arm that you cannot afford to pay. I hope they learn from this!Actually, I think this has been mentioned before but Towers' maintenance situation needs a major overhaul itself to not only make the park more efficient and sort out the dreaded TLC that many rides need but also prevent further issues like what is happening with Hex and Skyride from happening again.
