Hex [2024 Refurb]: General Discussion

Would be pretty good if they enhanced the story like that. The vault has been unsealed for a quarter of a century by now, you'd think the curse would be curious enough to stick it's head around the bookcase at the very least.

Lighting for the human eye, and lighting for a camera, are totally different things. We also don’t know how long the exposure was, or what kind of faffing about was done “in post”, as it were.
I’d wager that probably looks fine to the Mk. 1 eyeball.

Tbh, this isn't a bad thought is that you would have thought the curse would have spread further out...unless they decide to throw a save and say that Skyride's downtime and all the bad upkeep in the park are all part of the expanded Hex sequel story! :p

Exactly! Remember the press pictures of The Curse last year? They looked very bright and in reality it is much, much darker. I'd expect the same here.

It’s a losing game, amp up the exposure and it looks too bright. Leave it as it is and you aren’t seeing anything. Our eyes are far more complex than any cameras we’ve made. If only there was a human eye camera…

Working for a leading lighting company I can vouch for this. LED tech has come a long way.
It has indeed! I just wish domestic lighting would catch up to the nifty gear we use. I could rant about how "warm white" should mean somewhere closer to 3200K rather than 2700K, but that would be seriously off topic, even for me. ;)

Regarding these new lights, I'm just happy to see gobos still exist. They seem to have fallen out of fashion lately (at least in TV).

True, I love a good gobo. When they have a autumn-y brown colour through a one with a sort of camo-like pattern it just makes my brain happy.

And the ones that make it look like light is coming through a window, especially when it makes fun shapes on all the furniture or other props

I wonder what exactly they've got planned for Hex. As long as they don't change the music or Jim Carter's narration I'm not really that bothered what they do with it. Also quick question who's the actor who played the Earl in the preshow video?

With the lighting, I don't think blue really fits the tone of the ride, especially with the audio in the queue. Personally I would've chosen a really warm candle like colour and perhaps have spotlights pointed at the windows with green gels. I like the Gobos though.

At least we still have Hex around and they haven't given up on it :)
