Did you know the working name for Hex at Alton Towers was 'The Curse of Alton Towers'? A name that would resurface many years later for The Curse at Alton Manor! #themeparks #darkrides #AltonTowerswww.facebook.com
That’s correct. The original idea was also to have lifts take you “down” to the vault rather than walk to it after the Octagon. An idea that was later used for Sub Terra.
Almost any theme park operator do this all the time with Disney famously using lost concepts and bringing them back to life in a different way for example the planned Beastly Kingdom for Animal Kingdom to represent the fantasy side of the animal kingdom would be recycled into the Avatar area as we all know today. They do like to recycle ideas.
Oh god. Please don't give them any ideas, they're barely just about to open the current iteration as it is!Honestly, while I wouldn't want to change Hex in it's current state other than some minor tweaks, the idea of a 'sequel' for the attraction to bring up how with how the real oak tree being more decayed these days that you'd think the curse would have spread further round the Towers making the actual building a living spirit being all corrupted by it. Could work if done right but I'm sure many will say if it ain't broke don't fix it, then again Hex did need fixing but that's different.
The cinema room was meant to have an Edwardian projector with a live actor playing a projectionist also, just goes to show that putting live-actors in dark rides didn’t start with Merlin either. That’s correct. I said IF they could do it, which they won't and given all the hoo-ha they've struggled just to get the damn thing open again, they'll want to not deal with Hex for a long time yet.Oh god. Please don't give them any ideas, they're barely just about to open the current iteration as it is!
If they had another attraction within the Towers along with Hex, they could play into the idea of what else the curse has done for the Towers in the centuries that's happened could have some idea of a wider storyline and if it means killing two birds with one stone with extra ride capacity and restoration then that can only be a good thing though honestly you could argue that the current tour system is classed as an attraction but I'm going off topic here. And in regards to a second “vault” or lifts to underground. They could add that after the current ride on then MMM area.
DON'T. TEMPT. FATE!After all this waiting, we can finally say Hex opens tomorrow!!
Rest of the day? More like next two yearsNow you've said that it'll open late then break first rest of the day.
Possibly, I believe some "influencers" will be riding just before 12.Are we anticipating any kind of opening ceremony?
We’re going tomorrow and we’re debating heading straight to Hex / Dark Forest to see if there’s any indication of something happening before 12
