Hex [2024 Refurb]: General Discussion

I did think it was a bit odd when the security guard telling me off for dancing on the benches at Oktoberfest declared:
‘For every post on the old towers street, a ride in the Merlin consortium will breakdown”

On the bright side the lighting looks incredible in those pictures of the breakdown.

Even if it is just a one or two day closure, it feels very on brand for this season.

Very much a take a step forward, then take a step backwards kind of season. Hopefully very much a temporary issue though, whilst I can see the funny side of it, I do feel a bit for them.

Merlin have beef with Madhouses, don't they?

To be fair, Haunted House Monster Party has not been shut for the bulk of the last 2 years like Hex has. In fact, it hasn’t been shut for any considerable length of time that I’ve been aware of.

And in terms of The Haunting, I know that one has been shut for at least 2 days this year, as it was initially on the daily closures board from the previous day when I arrived at Drayton Manor earlier in the year (although admittedly opened on the day I visited) and I read a recent trip report where someone said it had been closed all day. So while it hasn’t closed for 2 years like Hex has, I don’t think The Haunting has exactly gotten away problem-free either.

True, but it's damn memable at this point hahaha!

I had a vaultless ride on the Haunting last weekend due to a power cut. Still ran better than Hex.
Wow, what an unfortunate anticlimax!

The Haunting must be one for providing unusual Madhouse experiences. When I did it back in September, I was left completely alone in the vault portion, which was very eerie… the families with young children who were initially in the experience with me were scared by the pre-shows and asked to bypass the ride, which meant that I had to ride the ride portion entirely on my lonesome!

Haunted House Monster Party has been shut a fair bit this year and generally seems to go down quite often too. It also recently had a scheduled maintenance closure prior to "Brick or Treat".

All the Vekoma Madhouses have been struggling for several years.

Defi de Cesar at Asterix has been closed all year. Villa Volta was really struggling round last time I rode it (maybe Efteling have fixed this since).

Not just a Merlin issue for once. But let's not let facts get in the way of an excuse to bash them.
