Hex [2024 Refurb]: General Discussion

I understand how beloved Hex is to enthusiasts, but I must admit that I’ve always found the actual ending of the ride experience anticlimactic. Even from my first ride in 2000.

The immersive indoor queue and the story projected onto the screen give me chills every single time. The soundtrack is up there with the best, but that’s where it ends for me, sadly. Sparkly log or not, :(

Make the Octagon show twice as long as that’d be enough for me 😂

My memory of Hex is a little off but was it that after you exit the ride you end up suddenly go outside and kinda takes you out of the immersion of a hidden vault. Don't know what else they could have added to the end.

My 3 major issues with the lighting are specific elements on the ride.

I preferred the main branch when it was fibre optics it was less bright and it looked more magical.

The white Sparkly lights and the end of the ride sequence though looks like snow I preferred it without to be able to see the tree monsters on thr ceiling.

And finally the spark effect in the Octogon would look better being at thr back of the generator where it was intended to be

The rest of the lighting I am pretty happy with but those 3 key parts are what dampens it slightly. But still the best Mad House and story. As weird as it is to say I think Hex has too much lightning now.

I think a quiet majority actually prefers the new lighting or has no preference. There's definitely more happening now to keep the vault scene interesting . The changes have definitely received a lukewarm positive response from the public too, hence no further changes over close season despite the "enthusiast outcry".

The people that dislike the changes have just tended to be more "high profile" and the community is a bit of an echo chamber. I'm glad that they've not been pandered to on this occasion.

This is me. I prefer the new version, but there are tweaks I would make.

I don’t go to the spinning vault ride inside a castle with a cursed branch looking for “realism” and I imagine most of the public probably have a similar take on the matter

You mean instead of all the other “realistic” things in a theme park.

I’ve seen this point a few times, and perhaps the word in this context is a bit clumsy. Maybe natural, authentic, less garish lighting would be better suited.

But I understand the point.

It doesn’t serve the purpose of the theme.
