Hi guys and gals!

My dad and myself are planning a trip to Europa in March/April next year (March 31 - April 2) and we as this is our first trip there, we don't know about any nearby hotels.

We would appreciate any honest appraisal of hotels or apartments etc (not B&Bs) which have a bar and maybe a restaurant nearby. Thought this is the best place to ask!

Can I be the first to jump in here and say please really look hard at being able to afford the parks hotels. I know they are expensive but they are amazing!

We got a room with a 20% discount at Hotel Bell Rock because it has a view of a brick wall.

The restaurants are really nice, the swimming pools are great and you can go an try any of the facilities in any hotel.

I have only visited once and I felt that the cost of the hotel was well worth it.

I am sure you have seen loads of pics from EP, I put a load of pics on Facebook from around the hotel as well.

Rust has a lot of guest houses (most of which are B&B), there may be the odd hotel although I'm not sure. If you want a proper hotel then you really are best staying on Resort, especially at the time of year you're going when the park isn't open as late. The hotels are brilliant and you have a wonderful choice of restaurants and bars. I can recommend staying in El Andaluz, it is the cheaper of the hotels however it has been very recently refurbished and I found the rooms to be no worse and if not slightly better than the rooms in Colosseo.

OK, thanks mate! I'll link my dad to this thread so he can see your responses. :p Really want to stay on-resort now, and especially if there's not hotels within acceptable walking distance of the park.

Right, thanks a lot for your recommendations guys! However, we've just booked the Dilger Apartments which are just down the road from the main park entrance. 4 nights, arriving on the 30th March and leaving on the 3rd April, with the 31st - 2nd on-park! The apartments look very modern, fresh, homely, and of a decent size. They were also the ones that my late mum had booked for this year, but due to, er, circumstances, we weren't able to go.

Dad and myself are really looking forward to it, and will be making a mini-meet topic closer to the time, if anyone happens to be on-park on any of the same days as us!

Ahhhh, I remember my first time as well. It was so exciting for many reasons. First visit to a theme park in Europe, first flight from LCY which was awesome!!!!!!, first time staying in a hotel on a theme park!

I loved that short holiday. :)
 
This isn't to say that we won't be visiting the hotel bars, nor having a cheeky wander round the hotels though!

If you don't mind me asking, how much is the trip costing you with flights, transfers & hotel? Might look at going around a similar time.

Er... well we're not flying for a start!

My dad makes bio diesel for a very cheap price (around about 20p per litre) meaning that we can afford to drive down from Leicester(!). We've done multiple road trips in the past, 8 hours straight up to Scotland was interesting to stay the least, and we're planning on staying over with some friends who live about 20 minutes away from the Euro Tunnel, which we've not booked yet.

The total price for the apartments for 4 nights was €480. :)
 
One of the most expensive part of our visit to EP was the transfer from Basel to the park. For three of us it did work out a bit expensive. I think from memory it was about £50 each. I can't find the spreadsheet I had to work out the prices.

It was expensive but it was a lot easier than using public transport to get to and from the airport.
