It’s got to be The Wombles for me. As another poster alluded to, I also grew up with that version. Such a great interpretation of a classical song. For a far out and crazy version, look no further than The Who.Whats your favourite version of Hall of the Mountain King at Alton Towers, I like the original though also really like the one used between 2008 and 2015 to

What about the version used at the end of the Oblivion TV advert?Whats your favourite version of Hall of the Mountain King at Alton Towers, I like the original though also really like the one used between 2008 and 2015 to
I didn't even realise that it was "In the Hall of the Mountain King" until recently, as my TV back in 1998 was garbage.
EDIT: The oblivion.com website listed in the advert still works (it redirects to the Oblivion section of the official Alton Towers website)

The advertising agency that married ITHOTMK to AT, really deserves some credit. It's ideal, the calm of a start, house gardens. To the frantic nature of the rides. It's astonishing to think it's started being used before Nemesis. I will forever associate that piece of music with the excitement of Nemesis opening.
I always like to hear snippets In pieces of music around the park. The best example is the monorail theme from a few years back.

Understand it might be a controversal view but I might be in the minority who in a way wish it wasn't. Imo the Towers Street unique part, which they've been reusing recently in promos and in the fireworks a few year back is the better theme. (First part of it which is repeated multiple times)
Pretty much just sums up, 'where the magic never ends' to me.

FYI: I just saw an advert for Legoland Windsor on YouTube, and it sounded like they were using Ride of the Valkyries as the music, and so it seems that Merlin are sticking with the orchestral theme that was pioneered by In The Hall of the Mountain KingThis tracks with the introduction of the CanCan at LEGOLAND. When they first started using that music I heard that it had come about as a direct request from Nick Varney. An attempt to recapture the association ITHOTMK has with Alton Towers. If Nick Varney was responsible for introducing ITHOTMK it would only be natural to try and repeat its success.
I think the reason CanCan didn't work as well is that it's too recognisable and already has other associations. ITHOTMK was obscure enough for Alton Towers to make it their own.
