Hi I'm new here. I've been following this forum while I planned today's trip to AT. Picking up advice and watching queue times etc.

We travelled down from Coventry to derby. Caught the x52 which was like riding a coaster in itself. We got there and had to queue for ages to get in. We headed to Wicker man and queued for ages which was fine and totally worth it. We got a back row ride and it was a great way to start the day. Sadly things got worse from there. We went to nemesis but it was shut, galactica was on too big a queue but had we queued that would have gone down as well. We then headed to oblivian to find them evacuating people from the lift hill. After a long walk as skyride shut we decided to have something to eat. I wasn't doing smiler anyways and neither was my son as we had just eaten and queue horrendous. We then went to thirteen to have them tell us sorry ride broken. We headed to guest services and ended up with a fast pass went back on Wicker man, headed to runaway mine train did that tried Congo river rapids too big a queue and we would have missed the bus. Did duel twice and then had to go home. Very very sad and disappointed. A day out ruined

I feel for you. I really do. I don't go on busy or hot days for the reasons you mention, too many breakdowns.

I try and go on quiet days when the weather isn't great but with light winds. Not an option for many i know

Thanks for the sympathy I prebooked so no chance to change my mind. Makes you wonder how coasters cope in the heat on other countries really doesn't it?

Yes it does, they seem to on the whole, although i have heard of some coasters that are tempremental in other countrues too.

I hope you can go again on a quiet day and have a much better time. I have a season pass, everytime i've gone it's been a quiet day, apart from one, and that wasn't a good day.

Will give it another go sometime maybe. My son is off to uni on September so probably will be on my own, which I didn't want to do as I'm a bit of a wuss. We made a deal that if I screamed my lungs out or get scared he wouldn't laugh at me.

September would be a good bet i think, cooler weather and a quieter park.

I sometimes go on my own, felt awkward at first but you get used to it.

Don't forget, this is the UK, everything comes to a stand still because of the weather ;)

It's great to see that you are going to give Alton another go, I hope that you have a better day, but do check the opening days though as the park will be fully closed on some week days towards the end of the season
