Been a while since we had an update here. I would appear that the track for this now nearing completion. Here are some new photos found over on TPR:

I must admit I'm not the biggest fan of RMC coasters from an aesthetic point of view. Although really I dislike the red track, too bright and not a good combination for the steel supports. On the other hand, I do like Outlaw Run and Lightning Rod, because of its greyish track and it makes a nice combination with the wooden structure.
 
I actually like how most RMCs look but I do see where you are coming from with this one, the structure is rather ugly! It's what the track does that looks pretty damn good.

I think the track layouts make up for the aesthetic view to be fair :p Twisted Colossus is my favourite layout of all the RMC conversions because of how they took advantage of it's racing layout.
 
STOP THE PRESS!!

This thing is testing, and for once nobody can possibly say, "Oh first runs are bound to be slow!" The footage posted on Instagram pretty much makes it look like the ride will try to rip you in half. Could this possibly go on to be the first trimmed RMC? That airtime hill looks insane!!

Looks superb :D Kentucky Kingdom have done quite well ever since they reopened.
 
I think the friction on this may be broken. Ridiculously fast through those three hills.

EDIT-
Having just seen the full video, I can't believe how slow the second half of the ride looks. Look how much it crawls into the brakes.

Irvine Ondrey, the controls engineers for this, have posted on FB that they have been tweaking the ride through the night and recently got the fastest run yet in the middle of the night!

Plus, Upstop Media have posted a POV!

Nice! Probably not as good as some RMCs but this will no doubt be brilliant for Kentcuky Kingdom.

It's not the best layout or the best looking RMC out there, but in terms of speed and forces it's really up there.
 
Yesterday was media day and here is a POV from TPR:



First half looks amazing but then it does seem to lose momentum towards the end. Reading reviews it sounds like it rides like this also. The first airtime hill looks crazy!

Overall I think it is fair to say that this is a very good addition for Kentucky Kingdom!

Time for a bump of this thread!

First of all, I am led to believe that Storm Chaser is running much better than when it first opened (I think due to a change of wheel compound). Looking forward to seeing what is is like for myself later in the year!

Also T3, the park's Vekoma SLC, has done a Steel Vengeance and had a bump in the station. The coaster will remain closed until an investigation has been completed.

T3 has now re-opened, but running on only one train.

Kentucky Kingdom yesterday announced their sixth rollercoaster - Kentucky Flyer.



It is a Gravity Group woodie, here are some of the stats:
  • Rolling Stock: Timberliners
  • Length: 1280 Feet
  • Drop: 52 degrees
  • Top Speed: 35 MPH
  • 54 degree banked turns
  • 12 airtime elements
It looks a little like a mini version of Mystic Timbers with how close it stays to the ground after the first drop.

Considering most pepople were expecting something like a Zamperla Air Race in the build up to the annoucment this is great!

I've never been to Kentucky Kingdom, but I've found the story of the park really interesting to follow. I know this will be a simplistic way of looking at it, but Ed Hart built the park up, Six Flags ran it down, and now Ed Hart's building it back up again. It might not necessarily be the case that Ed Hart's formula could work for a theme park in any location, but he does seem to know his audience very well and have a good sense of what will and won't work. It feels like anyone who's interested in studying theme park management should take a look at Kentucky Kingdom.
