Legoland Belgium

When I visited Walibi Belgium to ride Kondaa earlier this year, I flew into Brussels South Airport in Charleroi. Ended up spending a night in a hotel there, too.

Nice little city, but had the niggling feeling that it was lacking a certain something. I now realise what that something was; another Legoland.

Belgian Secretary of State for Recovery and Strategic Investments, Thomas Dermine, appearing on RTL, described the abandonment of plans to build a Legoland in Charleroi as a “real disappointment” but expressed hope that new projects would take its place.

“It was an advanced project. Just a few months ago, contractors and construction companies went on the invitation of Lego Korea to submit quotes on the construction of the park,” the Secretary lamented.

Merlin (I believe the new CEO) has stated the reason for the cancellation is they want to focus on investing in and improving their existing European parks and also the china parks that have started construction rather than building any more new parks.
