Legoland Windsor

Legoland Windsor is the best Legoland Park I have been to great setting and some original Legoland Rides like Haunted House Monster Party, Deep Sea Adventure, Hill Train, Legoland Express, and the best version of the Dragon I have done.

Legoland Windsor has a lot more to do compared to Legoland Florida and Legoland Dubai the other two I have done
They are both newer Lego parks which definitely have the modern Merlin approach.

The older original Lego parks seem a lot more organic and less budget.

Technically Legoland Florida the park itself has been around since 1936 as Cypress Gardens so was developed before it became a LEGOLAND park not sure how many pre exist still at the park from that era

BA cancelled our outbound flight to Billund meaning i've had to cancel our entire trip which is a shame. No reason given by them.

The park seems to favour a similar demographic to Windsor with the vast majority of attractions being either no or low height restrictions but they do have 2 coasters that are 1.2m and a 1.3m flat. Of course, they are very much the only theme park in the vicinity so it makes sense for them to have a broader demographic appeal.

Should Legoland Windsor install some sort of Skyride Cable Car system because it is a big park getting from the front entrance all the way to Mythica is not the easiest walk

AFOL's have been about in large numbers since I was a teenager...that long.

A number of them a bit weird, maladjusted landlubber pirates and the like.

Legoland is for kids.

They do not want the big thrill crowd in a kid park.
As I said there have always been adults playing with lego, but now it seems very big, a ton of adults (in their like 20-30's) are building lego say what you would like but it is a big thing (big enough to make lego have a large portion of sets going to their adult range)

If merlin decide to ignore them, I feel they will be missing a huge opportunity.

And as I said, there have always been lots of them.

A big thing, but also historically a big thing.

I know several from decades ago.

AFOL...big thing for many decades, and not just twenties and thirties, one of my mates still buys a lot of new sets "for the grandchildren".

Now, via social media, you see more of them...but that does not mean they were not there, in big numbers, in the past...just more visible now.

And grown ups just didn't video themselves back then playing with kids construction sets...unless it was Meccano.

Back on topic...

Legoland is very popular, and specifically for kids.

No adult style thrill rides for a reason...they don't want thrill seekers there, they cater specifically for smaller humans.

Re: the new ride, I just hope it's not a spinning coaster. Vekoma Family Suspended would be good, but I don't think they need a Suspended Thrill Coaster, in all honesty.

All Merlin parks need more rides for adults that don't particularly want thrills. This is a category that's continually overlooked. Quality dark rides, flying theatres, good family coasters, water rides... In recent years we've been getting only thrill rides and kids' rides. The Bluey coaster is going to be of no interest to my elderly father, neither is Paw Patrol. Toxicator? Forget it. Hyperia? As if. There's just nothing in between anymore. Why did non-thrilling rides have to become so exclusively juvenile?

Yes, quite. I feel Legoland is better than the other Merlin parks for this, but I completely agree with the point. Stuff like Fairy Tale Brook, Deep Sea Adventure, Coastguard HQ and Legoland Express are good for this, but I don't feel the elderly could go on Flight of the Sky Lion, for instance, or Haunted House Monster Party.

Lego is absolutely perfect for this type of ride, in my opinion, because it's basically about seeing the models. They could have their own versions of Jungle Cruise, It's a Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean (without any drops), but so far when they've done this type of ride, they haven't really built it on a large scale with a high capacity.

I would agree, and I think they need to start considering expanding to a more rounded experience like disney.

however I feel that the adult lego Craze has happened only very recently, and previously there were adults playing with it but not that many, I think the park was built with the idea of that but to capitalise on the adult audience they will probably have to shift a lot of the parks focus which will probably be quite difficult

Yes indeed. There's a meme that goes around that basically says people play with Lego a lot when they're a child, not at all when they're a young adult, and a heck of a lot more when they're middle aged. The thing is, I do agree people probably don't play with it when they're the thrillseeking age (teens and 20s), but there's definitely a big adult audience now. I'd be absolutely astounded if the current adult Lego audience wasn't massive bigger than it was in the past.

It must be a thing about plastic toys as it's a similar trend see in Warhammer. Play lots as pre-teen, no longer cool, then bam 20 years later with disposable income back into it.

All the talk of what the elderly can go on and I've lovely memories of going on Nemesis with my nan.

I wasn't trying to suggest adult thrill rides like hyperia.

I was trying to say that more family thrill rides should be installed, rides which both children and adults can enjoy, for instance guardians of the galaxy at epcot not nessacerily aimed at adults but able to be enjoyed by all

Yeah, I would agree to an extent but they should do it in a similar way to Billund or Germany.

Although I'd say Chessington fills that Family Thrill void well, I think if they focus on whole family rides and maybe add in a statement family thrill ride like a Gyro Swing like Cyclonator - I think it'd be a very balanced park.

I think the reason Windsor doesn't offer the same as Billund is because we have Chessington down the road that offers for everyone.

Up until earlier this year, LEGOLAND and the RTPs were separate and distinct divisions. LEGOLAND had their own budgets, their own targets and their own visions, operating independently from the other Merlin owned theme parks.

Whilst your conclusion is logical, it's only applicable to future decisions and not past ones.
