Monorail Refurbishment

Were there any trains that stacked because of delays on the platforms. Also bet it generated a lot of atmosphere from inside the park seeing trains go by constantly
I think at most you would have one stacked (at each station), but it was a very short delay if you were in said stacked train. It never felt like you were waiting for long in whatever part of the monorail you were in, whether in the queue, the station or a train. That's the key difference now and why many people who used to go on it back then, suck it up and walk now as it's a misery to go on the monorail these days. It's sad to see how much the system has declined.

I think it may be the next ride to overhaul once Skyride is complete, it's tricky because of its importance to get to the park entrance. I would say why not allow guests to enter through Forbidden Valley would be ideal in order for Monorail to be refurbished

Usually the next train paused a short while before the next train left the station.

It’s not just the lack of pre-batching that slows things up now. The train heading towards Towers Street station used to stop just before the station if the train ahead hadn’t left, now it stops wayyy back on the straight before you enter the plaza as there are evacuation platforms here. So the train then needs to make the whole loop around the plaza only after the previous train has left the station.

They would need to build an evacuation platform on the bend to fix that issue.

because the guest flow would be messed up, the park is designed to handle everyone entering through the main enterance, then splitting to each area but if everyone entered from FV they would they would be crammed having to walk down past the curse, then the mine train, none are that wide of paths giving corwd concerns. also there are much less coasters close to the FV enterance (only have air / nemesis, vs rita, wickerman, 13, smiler and oblivion near the main enterance)

this probably wouldn't be too big of an issue, if they were doing other work it would probably not be too difficult, although unloading typically takes less than loading so I would imagine the added time may not be too significant

Something will be hopefully changing

Theme Park Worldwide are reporting on Facebook that vinyls are now being removed from the windows of Monorail trains. It looks like the strawberry train is first to have this treatment. This train is also now in service to guests.

One by One the trains are hopefully overhauls to get them back in service, call me crazy but I have always thought machines particularly trains to an extent have personality to them bet its not nice being shunted in the sidings

Sounds like they’ve been listening to criticisms around the monorail, funny how this thread has popped off again recently and now the easiest change they could have made has happened!

Hopefully this means that case for bigger investment into the monorail is being formed, a new monorail refurb and design that fits in with the current era of the park. We don’t need it to be heavily themed, just clean and presentable, like ideal public transport.

The thing is - has the rot been cleaned / repaired? What about the seating?

Smalls steps I know but let’s be honest removing some vinyl is hardly game changing.
No yet it does make them look a bit better for sure. Hopefully the insides have had a jet wash at least

I bet it took some doing getting those vinyls off after being applied for so long, well worth it though.

At least you can look at something other than the grot on the inside of the cabins now.
