Nemesis: 21st Anniversary

I don't get Nemesis @ 21. Wasn't it's 20th birthday more significant?
Might as well throw a party for Air @ 13.![]()
Ignore the fact it's a ride, historically 21st birthdays have always been a milestone age you "become an adult". Although now that more adult things (alcohol, driving etc) happen at 18, 21 is more just symbolic that when you actually get adult responsibilities.
That's why I think they chose 21 for a big celebration. I attended the 10th anniversary talk by John Wardley, but it seems to be the only one of ATs rides they do anniversaries for. The only other one that really is special would be Oblivion I think, but I don't remember the 10th being observed?

Having a big 21st birthday celebration is a typical American thing as the drinking age over there is 21.

Cool. I'll have to remember that when I turn 21. I officially become an adult.
Nemesis however is a roller coaster made of steel and concrete. It doesn't need to drink, smoke, have sex, vote, drive or become legally independent. Typical anniversaries and milestones for companies and products are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years etc.
Nothing like this ever happens anywhere else. I suspect the real reason is because last season, Towers couldn't be arsed/forgot/had no budget/were too busy (delete as appropriate) or something like that.
It could also be down the fact they have very little in the theme park this season to use in their marketing. Easy to lure us suckers back to the park by recycling old products.
Towers fail again. Bad management and marketing as always. I'm beginning to wonder if these people have some kind of mental impairment. Merlin must get them on cheap labour rates. Keeps the profits high I suppose.
