I've not been to Towers this year, but I heard the ride experience itself is a lot better aside from the rattle at the last turn, and the Station looks really good, but area itself is a mixed bag from what I've heard here. Let me know which you prefer. I won't be voting since I've only ridden the original.

Overall i prefer reborn some bits are a bit iffy but still brilliant, the original soundtrack and ambience the original area created will never be beaten for me though truly was unique.

Love the new station, both the exterior and interior. The track though I preferred the look of the original - am aware you couldn’t really have both though!

Queue line I definitely preferred the original, even though there’s less views I’ll take missing that and some random track pieces to have the shorter walk!

The actual ride experience itself I think is pretty even though for speed and intensity Reborn is slightly superior.

So overall, Reborn on a points decision.

I prefer the track colour and the station of Reborn, but I liked the overarching post-apocalyptic feel of the original, which Nemesis Reborn desperately lacks. I would say that Nemesis Reborn rides no better or worse than its predecessor. Overall, I prefer the original, although it is close.

It’s Nemesis Reborn without question for me.

I much prefer the theming and thematic execution of Reborn; it’s made the whole Forbidden Valley area feel far more alive, and far more dynamic. Perhaps controversially, I also much prefer the new IMAScore soundtrack to the old one. I do miss queueing through the pit on the old version, but with that being said, the new version has some very nice views from in the queue and also has better queue theming, in my view.

I also feel the coaster rides better. The occasional headbanging of the original has gone, and the coaster also possibly feels faster, in my opinion. Perhaps controversially, I’ve hardly even noticed the rattle, and it definitely doesn’t factor in as something that even vaguely detracts from the experience for me.

No contest it's the real original Nemesis.

New station is better, they've painted the maintenance shed, and that's it. Nothing else is better for me. Shipping containers can't compete with rivers of blood.

But pretty much anyone under the age of 25 has only ever ridden past it's prime, or end-of-life Nemesis. So if you're comparing 2022 with 2024, it's not really a fair comparison is it?

It’s original nemesis for me, but as it was when I first started riding it in the late 90s. Incredibly smooth intense ride, the roar, original colour scheme, thundering blood waterfalls, nemesis nosh bus, original nemesis shop. It was all so coherent and impressive and so unlike anything else.

Nemesis Reborn isn’t far behind though and is definitely an improvement on Nemesis in its latter years.

It was every bit as smooth as the first half of the layout now, but without the rattles and bum tapping towards the end. Plus an awesome roar. With red waterfalls thundering down around you. And cool music.

Okay, so I managed to give reborn a go last November during the firework event, and I must say...

Yeah, it's not even close, original Nemesis all the way.

Let's take it from the top then.

The area:

As me and my friends were leaving Gloomy Woods for Forbidden Valley, I was honestly a little heartbroken how... what's the right word to use...? Hollywood-ified Forbidden Valley now looks and feels. The flashing beacons, the X-sector looking archway, the helicopter, it just felt like the new entrance doesn't have the same impact the original did with the mysterious Drilling machine covered in tendrils, and the former mysterious and edgy music by Graham Smart now replaced with a very adrenaline running, in your face score by IMAscore.

The tendrils on the monoliths are a nice addition though which I really appreciate.

The area just feels incomplete without that iconic rustic look. It looks all samey now to Merlins other projects from Smiler to the Swarm, and I like the Swarms theme and I think it was better executed than Reborns area.

Don't get me started on The Phalanx's inclusion with Reborn, that's something I have little to speak of positively. Unnecessary and the logo just painted everywhere with that annoying announcer voice being spammed every 30 seconds just isn't my cuppa personally.

The Station:

The station is quite mixed bag personally, maybe it was because we saw it at night, but it looks very... plastic looking now? I'm not sure if that's the right word to use, but the new arms looked great on pictures, but in person they have this artificial shiny look on them the older ones didn't have.

To keep this part short, I've never liked the colour choices they made for Reborn, and I'm still not a fan of the black/grey/red look they gave the station over the former more interesting rotten/fleshy skin it had.

Now, the eye... oh boy... maybe it was because we didn't see it in the daytime, but at night, it looked really tacky. It takes a lot of space up on the station that it does seem a bit out of place, it just screams "I'm made to be photogenic!".

I love the spikes around it though and the smoke effect as the train passes, they look great. Perhaps if the eye was smaller and a prop instead of a screen I would've liked it more.

The Queue:

I haven't got much to say about this really apart from that it was just... okay. I prefer the wooden queue fences before, and I do miss the old route as you got so close to the eyes and the loop, but the new route that goes round the turn before the loop has a great view!

The station interior:

This is a great improvement over the original interior, I love how they kept the metallic boxes between the air gates and painted them to look more like flesh, and the glowing tube with the row numbers embedded looks really good too! I love all the red drapes hanging above as it really emphasises that we're inside some alien creature! Pretty good lighting too, but maybe a bit too OTT when it dispatches, but all in all, fantastic!!

Now, the elephant in the room...

The ride experience:

It was so good hearing that classic chain lift once again! Afterwards, the ride was relatively quite smooth, but after that downwards helix, it just got really rattly after that for some reason. I don't know what caused this, but knowing B&Ms current reputation in the industry, I'm sadly not all that surprised that Nemesis was guilty of this new 'rattle' newer B&Ms have now.

So, all in all... Nemesis Reborn, the Michael Bay cut of the original...hmm...I'd give it a 7/10.

There's lots of small details I love, but lots of other stuff I'm not particularly fond of either, especially the Phalanx Theme and IMAs new music. How I miss that Graham Smart original so much...

Area Theme: Downgrade
Music: Downgrade
Station exterior: Mixed Bag
Station interior: Upgrade
Ride experience: Mixed Bag (First half is very good, but afterwards it's very rattly, even more so than the OG when that was rattly)

I know I probably sound like a whiny person on topics about The Haunted House and Nemesis, maybe its just nostalgia, but I genuinely preferred the former themes for these rides from an artistic perspective, and Nemesis Reborn is no different, but it has a lot more positives than Alton Manors personally.

Maybe people are just into more sensory-triggering experiences nowadays over the more traditional and more arty ones. Maybe I just don't get the Hype of it all nowadays. I'm glad people enjoy Reborn, but for me... I just don't think its as, or ever will be, as strong as the Original.

I don't feel strongly either way about the Phalanx takeover of the area as a concept for it, it is what it is. My main complaints are how inconsistent they are with the tone, and the peripheral bits.

Like, they're meant to be a big powerful organisation, but they're also quite bungling and incompetent. They're official and open, but also shady and weird and everything has to be a really on the nose black. They're serious and straight, but also campy comic book villains. I wish they'd settle on exactly what it's meant to be. If it's going to be everywhere now, they should lean in to the camp, the fireworks show was exactly how I'd like it to be.

I still don't get the 'seek the truth' resistance thing, considering the whole 'turning Nemesis into a weapon' thing they did with the fireworks it seems a missed opportunity to not make more of there being this group who know what they really want from Nemesis. I don't know what the damaged lab in the queue is meant to be, is it meant to be Phalanx or someone else? It doesn't make sense to be them cos why is it in a shipping container away from the rest of their base. But it can't be someone else's secret lab cos it's just there out in the open.

And don't get me started on the 'Nemesis has feelings too' thing, they threw in the same thing with Swarm (even funnier there considering the theme is 'the aliens are actively attacking us right now' tbf) and it doesn't make any sense. Is it meant to be some sort of satire? Of who? Why?

It's little things like that that drag it down for me even more than things like the really obvious fake rocks the little helicopter is on and the Lego gun in the queue. Having to cut costs is sadly understandable these days, just throwing half baked ideas at it when they had 12 years since N:ST started all this isn't.

Nemesis Reborn, and it's not even a comparison for me. I hated original Nemesis, so rough and uncomfortable (sorry everyone). Was my least favourite of the Big 7. Nemesis Reborn is my 3rd favourite of the big 7. The rattle doesn't take away from the experience, it's smooth and intense and nice to be able to ride it without bashing your head left, right and centre

Hehehe. Good one. ;)

Original Nemesis for me.

I'll start with the roar - Before entering FV you could hear the intimidating sound of the roar of Nemesis, now you only get the occasional whimper if your stood in the right place at the right time! (I do understand having less of a roar is good for better relations with the neighbours but is is a downgrade in my opinion)
Track colour - I'm not against the new colour scheme but for me personally I prefer the original. By painting everything black I worry with Towers poor reputation of upkeep how bad is this going to look, this year let alone in a couple of years time!
The ride experience - Admittedly old Nemesis was getting a little rough towards the end but still nothing as rough as some newer coasters (Smiler) But if you were lucky enough to have ridden Nemesis when it opened the sheer exhilaration, speed and intensity was incredible. Now at this point I'm sure some of you will be saying but there nothing like it to compete with it at the time and you would be right but that also was what made it special. Nemesis Reborn although rides the same, it doesn't! I agree with what some others have said the second half does feel less intense for some reason but I can't put my finger on it why? is it the lack of the roar? or I might be guilty of nostalgia towards the original.
I will however say Nemesis Reborns station is an improvement but disappointed to have lost the front row queue. The eye is a lot better as long as they maintain it (time will tell) and the whole area does feel more cohesive but again I do worry how it will look over time with it being predominately black.

Original Nemesis. And not because of how it rides (pretty much the same for me - minor differences here and there) - nor the the change in style which I think is really good.

It’s solely down to nostalgia and what the original did for the park. It put Alton on the map in a way that hasn’t happened with any ride since. It changed the industry.

Whilst Reborn is a very solid addition - it’s not ground breaking in anyway.

A topic I haven't seen many people discuss about since Reborn opened is the music. What is everyone's thoughts on IMAscores take? Does it beat the original, or does Graham Smarts score still remain unbeaten?

IMAscore Remake above

I prefer the new one - it's more dynamic/atmospheric and feels more like the beast is 'alive' - the original one is super iconic though but feels more theatrical

I personally much prefer the new one.

It feels a lot more dynamic and exciting for me, and makes the old one sound a bit flat by comparison, for lack of a better term.
