Nemesis Reborn: General Discussion

Thinking about it now: I remember criticising the decision to put Air right next to Nemesis, as I felt they were too similar*, and Air immediately felt lesser by comparison ("why queue for Air instead of Nemesis right next to it") - but, in hindsight, perhaps this was deliberate, as it was felt necessary in order to boost FV as much as possible in order to incentivise people to bother going there, with the Haunted House along the way as well (to somewhat break up the long journey)
NICHOLS BROWN WEBBER: Alton Towers Resort

Perhaps the above-linked page might give some insight into locations?

To quote:

"The initial masterplan called for restoration of the historic core of the park with new development set in a horseshoe shaped area around this." (My emphasis.)

Also of interest:

"In the park, our work has included Air and the awesome Nemesis. This project required the blasting out of over one million cubic feet of rock to provide a concealed setting in the Conservation Area that is unique in the world of rollercoasters."

Thanks for the link; I'll have a look at it shortly!

I love the fact that they described Nemesis as 'awesome', but not Air :tearsofjoy:

(I still think AT missed a trick by not having Donna Air open Air in 2002; it might sound corny, but Drayton Manor used G4 to open the similar-named G-Force in 2005, after all !)

From a landscape architect's POV Nemesis is definitely a lot more "awesome" than Air, not least since so many of the embellishments of Air fell by the wayside.

Interestingly, according to that site, just as much rock was blasted out for the hotel water garden:

I honestly had never heard of Donna Air until reading your post... 🤣
