Nemesis: Sub-Terra

People really disliked Sub Terra when it first opened but then when it closed in 2015 after many years people wanted it to return, as soon as it did people appreciated it more after it wasn't there for so long

Did they?

You might have done but that doesn’t mean everyone did.

I think we all appreciated that a ride that was SBNO was now open but I can’t say it’s gained any increased appreciation.

Sure it has an audience but you saying everyone appreciating it because you like it would be the same as me saying everyone dislikes it because I never bother riding it. It’s a mediocre ride, but in a park with limited rides I would rather it open than closed. Its design however, was flawed from day one.

It’s nothing more than a glorified kiddies drop tower. But if it’s accepted for what it is - a fairly fun filler attraction it’s fine. But make no mistakes it’s been designed poorly from day one and is no world beater

Where else can you find an experience like it

I mean you're sort of right in that regard. Military personnel don't usually threaten you on sight, that's unique to Towers. They've always been unfailingly polite when visiting places in a professional or informal guise.

Not sure that was what you were looking for mind.

I have a soft spot for Sub-Terra, but I can't say I like the current iteration or the batching. Staff were very efficient on my rides last season, but when the batch host briefs you that you may be moved around, and in the chamber, there’s a game of musical chairs… It breaks away any immersion. I preferred it when it was a smoother experience. It feels very clunky now.

On my visits last year, I felt the ‘acting’ wasn't as bad as it was with Sub-Terra 1.0, where a swathe of unnecessary insults would be thrown at you for no reason whatsoever. I would argue that the acting now is pretty much non-existent, but I'm not complaining.

It's a filler ride, and it suits its purpose. I would like to see the restraints issue sorted, but I suspect Towers have no interest in investing anything into this ride. It will plod along until a huge expense appears or a ride needs to be cut to save money.

This could describe a number of Merlin attractions.

I liked Sub Terra when it first opened because it was daft and cheesey. It was certainly flawed overall though with the changes post initial opening and general lack of "thrilling" finale.

After the exit corridor was added stopped bothering with it. Haven't bothered with it since it reopened either.

The people who wanted it open were mostly the kids who missed out on riding it when it first opened. Then we were all desperate for just SOMETHING to be added because there were no other rides.

I went on Sub Terra during the first week of its original opening. It was atrocious.

Since it’s reopened it’s become one of my more favoured rides along with Hex and Curse.

It’s pretty unique and a good little dark ride. I especially like going on it with friends who have never ridden it before!

I’ve always enjoyed it, i was a big advocate for it reopening and im really glad that it did.

I’ll forever think it’s a 6/10 attraction when with a bit more love and thought it could have been and 8 or a 9 but it is what it is and I’ll always enjoy one ride a day in itz

If the exit lifts are working and there's an actor in the end corridor I enjoy it. When neither of those are true, not so much
Unfortunately the exit actors have all gone this season since the merlin ente cuts. But the exit lifts are definitely working again now.

It’s a shame they ripped the old exit corridor out as that was still loud and scary without the actors. The new one is too bright

Thrilled that the exit lifts were working today. First time they've worked for me in about 5/6 visits. Exit corridor is naff but the rest of the ride was running well. All towers on, restraints locking 1st time, all special effects (back prodders, leg ticklers, exit lifts, water effects) on top form. Best it's ridden in ages today
