Taking the main Wicker Man planning application (SMD/2016/0315) as an example, trees are factored into the "Noise Assessment" but this is separate from the "Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment." Both reports list the relevant legislation, policies and guidance which apply (not the same.)I hadn't thought about it before, but is this one reason why Alton Towers can't build above the tree line?
I'd always assumed that it was simply due to visibility, but is it due to noise as well ?
Note that amongst the proposed noise mitigations for Wicker Man:
"Tunnel constructions at the highest elevation point with absorbing inner lining. The proposed tunnel will start from the top of the first drop and extend to the lowest point after the drop. The tunnel will have absorbing material fixed to the inner wall."
