They've not been removed, just not switched on. Not sure exactly why although I presume it's possibly an issue with the Smiler construction or the general cold temperatures.
 
They origionally where not on because of the cold weather.... No idea if that's still the case.
 
Indeed they were off due to temperatures although i'm sure the diligent staff will ensure they're switched on again at the earliest convenience.

Indeed they are back on now, temperature was the cause of them being turned off.
