Paultons Park: General Discussion

I can't even think of the last new well received coaster that had OTSR. Lots of the major parks (eg Efteling and Disney) have long ago retrofitted their family thrill coasters with vest restraints presumably at least partly based on customer feedback.

Sorry to stray off topic somewhat but was thinking about this... not sure if it qualifies but i wonder if F.L.Y at Phantasialand qualifies as the last great OTSR coaster?

Dollywood have announced they’re getting a Mack Rocking Boat… for a cool $50m so I think we can probably put that to bed for Paultons.

Here’s a look for comparison:

I think with Dollywood's one it's going to be heavily themed and also indoors for quite a bit of it (there was a lot of reports of it being a dark ride).

Futuroscope's cost €20m in Euros which is £17.3m in pounds. Still a possibility even if it's slightly cheaper, we seem to know for certain that it's Mack but whether it's Water Coaster, SuperSplash or Rocking Boat is a different matter.

I think this is extrapolated from people thinking they can recognise Mack’s footer patterns.
These are the same people who were convinced that they spotted Mack footers for the Gerstlauer, I presume?

I was under the impression, and I have my humble pie at the ready if not, that construction for the 2027 project is yet to begin?

Even if the above were true, about the footers, that's still nowhere near "certain".

I thought it was being built on the site of the old go-karts, with footers starting to be placed?

All I've seen, admittedly on my limited view of TST, is people saying that a splashdown would work well in the old go-karts site; which isn't the same as groundwork being placed.
Early groundwork has started.
It would be really helpful if you could post your source, either video or photo!

The source is my trip from a few weeks back and seeing it firsthand, but if you want an Internet source:

22m onward for an aerial view of the groundwork currently taking place.

Thank you 😊 that's exactly the source we're looking for.

I'll add in another from Theme Park Guide with the footers as well: https://themeparkguide.co.uk/construction-projects/Paultons-Park-2027

I'll have to look for the video but I remember one with Mack boxes on the site 🤔

It is quite something seeing serious work taking place on the site of the go-karts. As I said before it is quite an interesting problem that for all the excellent theming work they are doing currently, it does make some of their earlier themed areas look rather iffy in comparison but no doubt they'll go back on this again when the time comes. With a water ride of some kind coming in 2027, I do feel another dark ride is needed to the park though the question is where would it be if anyone has any ideas?
