Paultons Park: General Discussion

I wouldn't say small but more narrow, it'd probably be something that can fit a SuperSplash but something substantial will be tricky without it being a custom layout.Isn't it a small site? Supersplashes are big by time you have the splash pool in. More likely but still very unlikely to have something more like Poseidon.
It isn't just the Go Karts site but the area next to it that has been unused until now which doubles the land size.
My original guess was a Viking Voyage clone (Emerald Park) but since Mack footers got spotted and the size is bigger, one of the water coaster models of some form is more likely.

Already known; The opening date was confirmed a while back.

We know the date for it already most parks don't realease opening date till the area or ride is fully complete suppose to give that buffer room if anything were to go wrong
More like other parks leave it till much later than Paultons to get things done.

Random one but thinking out loud, if Drakon is a success at Paultons?
Could this pave the way for other smaller parks to be building their first thrill coaster such as Crealy? I'm thinking Eurofighters etc.
I would say this is a possibility for certainty considering Crealy in particular is broadening with flat rides. I'd also say for seaside parks, it may be a punt to go for a small Eurofighter with a basic layout (much like the Pinfari Zyklons back in the day. Drayton Manor is another park that also comes to mind who could consider something like that alongside the Wave.
Just thinking out loud but Drakon may influence the UK market moving forwards if it's successful.

God I hope not.
Disregarding the fact that they’re awful, Crealy doesn’t have the money as it is for a Eurofighter. They can’t even keep their SBF Visa spinner going in anything above a 1mph wind.
Doesn't run in the rain either. Quality product.
I'm not sure a park buying a 22 year old model line will see others queueing up for it. Speed, Rage and SAW were all here, with SAW and Rage being easy to get at and the more standard design of Eurofighter. If it was a new product line I might see it but certainly not for this one.

On the other hand, could we see more UK parks investing in an ART Wild Swing if Paulton's one is popular? I'd say that's more likely.

That's more likely, a newish product to market with I assume a low price.

My thinking with those two parks is that they are both smaller parks on the scale of the smaller parks I'm thinking of.It didn't happen when Eurofighters first hit the market with Oakwood & Adventure Island, doubt it'll do much in a modern environment where the selection for family thrill is far wider.
With Adventure Island, I'm surprised they didn't invest in a Gerstlauer Spinner and/or Bobsled afterwards as a follow up.
With Paultons, being optimistic, I'd say they're the trailblazer for the family market so it could be possible however that being said, we haven't seen another Vekoma SFC or a Mack Spinner in the UK yet.
That I can certainly see happening, I wouldn't be surprised if Drayton are considering a Wild Swing very soon.On the other hand, could we see more UK parks investing in an ART Wild Swing if Paulton's one is popular? I'd say that more likely.
It'd be interesting to see if this is something Merlin may be considering. It's exactly something that would fit in very well at Alton Towers and Chessington. It would add something that is good for all ages. Something that both parks are weaker for in recent years.

I mean, I think it could happen.
Chessington build their first coaster with an inversion, a few years later Paultons do the same.
There’s logic to it. Perhaps we will see more ‘family thrill’ coasters opening around the UK (not necessarily Eurofighters specifically), which I’d love to see.

That is my thinking, I was thinking Eurofighters specifically because they are very much compact, mass produced and the most widespread thrill coaster that is currently produced.I mean, I think it could happen.

At the same time, other manufacturers such as Zamperla, Zierer and SBF also offer a model which is very similar to a Eurofighter.
Although it seems that the modern equivalent of a Schwarzkopf Looping Star or the dreaded Pinfari Zyklon Looper would be a Gerstlauer Eurofighter which would be my logic in thinking a Eurofighter.

Comparing a Schwarzkopf to a Pinfari or Gerst is heresy.
I can't see the Wild Swing at bigger parks being a good idea. Throughput is poor.

Art Engineering have already thought of that and there's a Wild Swing XL coming to a few parks including Liseberg in 2026.Comparing a Schwarzkopf to a Pinfari or Gerst is heresy.

Have ridden a few Wild Swings around Europe in the past few years and they are so much fun.

Yep, I could definitely see it being a small SuperSplash - one lift, one drop and perhaps a bunny hill. I just had a quick measure of the one at Plopsaland, and the pool is about 33m wide, which would easily fit on the site in question.

I think a SuperSplash would be a misstep much in the same way i think the EuroFighter was a misstep. Another dated attraction that isn't going to grow the parks appeal on a long term basis.
I can see the arguments for it in that it's a solid water ride, a UK exclusive and has a good potential throughput but in my opinion it would be another missed opportunity to put the park on the map and deviate away from the Peppa Pig reputation. I think a PowerSplash would achieve much more plus have the benefit of being operational for more of the season.

I wouldn't argue with that, as I don't really like water rides! However, a small SuperSplash would be more appealing to me, personally. Hypothetically, it could be meandering and have dark ride scenes, with an adjustable splash so as to be not too wet in the colder months.
I see what you mean about the PowerSplash, but they are all huge so far (45m). Still, it's not impossible that Mack could make a smaller version for Paultons. It will be really interesting to see what it is! The LIM-launched Water Coaster would be the best, in my opinion.
