Hollywood Tour needs nothing short of a large amount of explosives. I wish we had failed to find the entrance for it to be honest.

It's interesting seeing the photo of Wuze Ball. I assumed it did a lot more than that. It just goes to show how much of a difference it makes when you throw in the smoke and the lighting effects. It definitely feels more exciting when you're on it than it looks in the photos.

Say what you want about Hollywood Tour that rug spider will never leave my brain. How do they stop it from getting completely manky? bet it stinks up close.

Whoever a few pages back that Hollywood Tour has no charm is very wrong!

Granted it feels very worn out, and is oddly huge for the tiny ridership it must get, but I thought it was great, and will be a shame when they eventually get rid.

The ambient soundtrack is great, and gives the ride a really great dream-like feel. The fact so many of the sets are so bizarre and the animations so old kind of adds to that surreal feeling.

Part of me wants them to move the entrance round to the main path, dress it up and make it popular so the ride can live on forever, the other part of me thinks that would take away loads of its charm, and your surprise when you get inside and realise just how big the ride is

Has Hollywood always been the rides theme? I was watching a POV earlier and couldn't help notice most the ride takes place in caves. Seems an odd choice for a ride themed to Hollywood.

A little part of me thinks that now both the rides that inspired it (The Great Movie Ride and Kongfrontation) have gone we'd be losing a chunk of Theme Park history if it was removed.

I find Hollywood Tour wholly sinister.

It is! The soundtrack is unsettling and the scenes are very large but slow... very strange.

Looking at Wuzz Town on Google it looks like they could do with doing what Fantasy Island did and cover up the glass roof to make the space feel more immersive.

What's under the big gold Epcot ball? (If it's still there)

The big gold dome is long gone. That's where Rookburgh and F.L.Y. is being built. It was an IMAX simulator ride called Race for Atlantis.

Hollywood Tour is a strange one in idea and execution it is supposed to be creepy and give guests goosebumps. At the beginning they even had a Frankenstein scare actor in the queue/entrance. The experience has only been inadvertently heightened with age.:p

    Hey guys,

So regarding Wuze Ball, where abouts is it and where would you find the Queue line? I had no idea this was even located at Phantasialand!!! There is nothing about it on the web...are there any POV?

They are very cagey about it, it’s rare to find much info about the attraction and few people got to ride it. Think the one time it was open when TS went I have never seen @AstroDan run so fast in my life.....

With Hollywood tour I think keeping the ride system, maybe just fixing it so the speed is corrected as it doesn't seem to flow well all the way round. Otherwise most of the sets and animatronics could be replaced and updated. But getting rid of it entirely doesn't feel right. In the same way that Alton Towers has kept a boat ride for years just changed the theme.

I think the issue might be that if they want to replace Nighthawk they probably need to remove Tours as they are structurally interconnected.

It wouldn’t be impossible to work around that but the added cost would probably make it cheaper to bulldoze and start again.

For a park with such space issues that building is currently the biggest available development spot (size wise not much different to Rookburgh) it would not make any sense to pass up that opportunity for something new. A new indoor area, dark ride, coaster, all of those, who knows. Together with the maze behind which they are allowed to develop (and infact encouraged by neighbours to block any noise and visual problems from the potential expansion on the opposite side of the road behind) which opens up a Klugheim sized site. Plus they want unique, blockbuster rides. A basic old boat system like everyone else has is uninteresting. Something like Shanghai Pirates or some other new system (albeit on a much smaller budget) is what they'd aim for.

Not to mention Crazy Bats/Temple the VR won't last forever without a major rebuild and modernise you can't put in much in the way of theming inside the hall due to fire regulations post Gebirgsbahn. Plus its over 30 years old now. Eventually the coaster would reach its sell by date and need an expensive retracking. I don't see Temple as deserving or necessary for a CanCan Coaster style project. Eurosat was popular and the location didn't really offer much in terms of redevelopment. While in comparison minus a small cult following Temple is hated and offers insane by PHL standards redevelopment potential.

Nevertheless in other news, the park obviously reopened at the end of last month.
Hotel Matamba has at last received a direct to park entrance in its garden. So the bridge through the Mamba loop is now fully open and from the bridge end/entrance up to the first drop of Mamba a flat pathway has been opened up too. Along it a new rustic bar has been built, and new tables and chairs placed along the path (more added since these pictures) as an extra rest and f/b seating area.

Geister Rikscha received some new lighting and figure customs/masks in certain scenes. Looks better than it has in years. All I'm saying 1001 Nacht also had all its lighting renewed for the final year so it would look its best for the end...

Crazy Bats is running without VR temporarily; the VR film soundtrack is being played in the hall now so its odd Nighthawk/Bats hybrid experience now.
Maus au Chocolat's façade has been completely repainted, and a few new for the summer season F&B stands in OldTimer cars have been placed on Kaiserplatz in the old Berlin area.

I agree that replacing the entire structure and building multiple rides and shows over many levels would be the best use of the space. But unfortunately outside of Disney there aren't many "basic old boat rides" anymore Yes a flashy system like Shanghai has would be great, but I would rather see a simple boat ride instead of another coaster or more flat rides.

Within the UK those boat rides are now quite rare, Drayton Manor removed Pirates, Alton Towers has it as part of the dungeons rather than a significant attraction in its own right. I'm not sure how many others there are in Europe but it would be shame to lose them all.

Unfortunatley Phantasialand is very strict about the information they give out. The last time the location was revealled along with pictures of it in the park, they threatened legal action against both the posters and the forum it was posted on. So even those that have seen it are made to sign non-discloure agreements with the park.

The new bar in the Matamba garden is a nice addition. Good to have another option in that hotel, as the current bar can sometimes be a little soulless and dead. At least sitting outside will give some nice ambiance on a warm evening.

Glad the entrance is finally sorted too!

Efteling has Fata Morgana and Europa will soon open version two of Pirates In Batavia, so there are some examples still around (albeit noticeably rarer to say 5-10 years ago).

The new Matamba bar and pathway looks great and offers another F&B option amongst giving the hotels another entryway aside from the one in China.

Speaking of China, if the updates do imply a “dressing for death” type refurbishment, this all makes sense as I can see the area partly closing off at least. Who’s to say if Ling Bao’s entry will be re-routed or closed entirely? Subject to these potential works.
