Planet Coaster: new Frontier game

Egad!

But what's with all this "release it bit by bit" crap? I'm not interested until there is a fully functioning game I can buy on a disk.
 
afraid that's how it is now. I agree which is why I haven't picked up the pre-alpha yet but I'm fairly confident they'll make their release date regardless.
 
The game is being released in separate versions so that the community can express their opinions on the game so the developers can add or remove features the players would like. Though the alpha versions of the game are for more hardcore fans. It is definitely a good thing for the finished version of the game! :)
 
Releasing bit by bit has worked well for some recent games. It can be frustrating if you just want to get your hands on the final game now. For something like this I think it works well, roller coaster/theme park sims are something that people want a lot out of, so it's easier for devs to work like this and end up with a final product that pleases more people than it disappoints. So many games gets released with this that or the other missing. I'm sure this won't please everyone, but allowing people to play now and offer up opinions allows more flexibility in creating a superb experience.

They have announced the release date for the full game today: 17th November.

The third Alpha launches next Tuesday for those with Alpha access with a beta to follow before launch.

Also a new dev diary about Audio has been posted today and will be a series of live streams over thurs-sun highlighting new stuff and changes in alpha 3.

Looking forward to it, having been playing the alphas what's been released so far is fantastic and a worthy replacement for RCT.
 

They've added fastrack queues which literally cut the queue! :O also lots of cool new stuff, and the ability to share scenery stuff via steam!
 
I've been watching loads of videos on Planet Coaster the past few weeks and it really does look incredible. The easy to use yet insanely comprehensive scenery tools blow all previous coaster games out of the water!

Why on earth the RCT franchise bothered with RCTWorld I'll never know. It's an embarrassment!

I haven't played for a while but I seem to remember that they didn't count. Hopefully they do for the final release but your best placing block brakes after any sections of normal brakes and before lift hills to get them to work properly.
 
From memory blocking was not meant to be in the 3rd Alpha but they added it at the last minute, (a bit like coaster creation wasn't meant to be in the first Alpha). Therefore I'd assume they will fix that in the same way that they've been improving the track editor.
 
Yes, in just 2 weeks time, (17th).

It's only been in development for 2 years which is pretty good for a game of this size. It only feels like a long time because it's been 12 years since RCT3 and none of the other half baked games in that time have successfully launched.
 
The beta launches today, which is a fully functioning version of the game minus a few extra scenarios and the river rapids. They will launch will the full release next week. For £3 extra it made sense to buy the game and play it from today. The game is not in a buggy state at all either, you can tell from the alphas, this is mirrored in the fact they launch the full release next week.

Their pre beta live stream the other day was probably one of the best live streams to date, this game is jam packed with stuff. A few of the things they confirmed and showed were the following (and they all look stunning!)

-Wooden coasters
-Hybrid coasters
-Log flumes
-River rapids
-Dark rides (including triggered lights, animatronics, scenery, music)
-Toggable catwalks for all coasters

The support systems on the wooden and RMC look absoloutly amazing, beams, spacers and walkways all in the right place, all generated automatically and all look true to life. They said they had spent close to 2 years working on the wooden coasters and RMC coasters and support system alone and it shows!

I am like a kid at Christmas, I can't wait to get home from work and download this on Steam and play later today. They really have delivered on a next generation theme park simulation game.

You need to log into your account on the Frontier page where a Steam Key will have been generated which you can redeem on Steam. The game is not due to go live on Steam until about 6PM tonight so it won't be downloadable until then.
 
I shall be purchasing in January as my computer will be getting upgraded to GTX780 and 12gb of Ram, I currently only have 4gbs and min specs says 8gbs.

The only down side is I will have to log into my dusty Steam account and associate myself with some arrogant PC gamers :p

If anyone wants to check out the full potential of this game then I definitely recommed looking at Silvarret on YouTube, his creations are unreal.

Just check out his latest series on designing and theming a RMC...
