The recipe for regular IRN BRU was changed a few years ago to get around the sugar tax, some Scots still refuse to drink the new recipe.Another one I don't like, sugar free IRN BRU. I like standard IRN BRU and I like the sugar free and low sugar versions of coke and Pepsi, but to me sugar free IRN BRU just tastes wrong. The Scots know how to make a good sugar filled drink,

The bits in juice are the healthy bits!
Too much sugar to be a real health food, but the bits are good fibre, that shouldn't be filtered out.

I know a guy who runs a chain of gyms for free for people with terminal diseases because of the link between exercise and recovery chances. He gave a talk on sugar free products being one of the most evil inventions of the last 20 years and marketed in ways to make you think it's an ok product to drink compared to full sugared products. He also touched on different products marketed at different demographics - Diet at Women, MAX/Zero at younger mixed generation, Life/Green at the new generation of health kicks.
He pointed out that sugar free products can be more addictive than cocaine and the process that your body goes through when drinking a sugared drink vs a Zero drink is exactly the same. Most of the same hormones are released and keep you hooked for longer and never really satisfying your thirst crave. He then did a whole breakdown of the rise of cancers since the 80s and sugar free drinks in the 80s and there was a similar correlation between the two. In fact he even said in moderation if you were going to drink one or the other, he would recommend drinking the sugared drink (if you aren't diabetic) and take the dopamine hit and work harder to burn it off with exercise.

Which in itself is a real problem, we have more so called health products than ever before and yet people are getting fatter. There's quite a few reasons and to be fair could have it's own thread so I won't go into detail on my opinions on this issue here.And the fat kids are getting fatter by the year.
