I’d like to see a more traditional Wild West stunt show return to Fort Frenzee. The quad bikes et al are just incongruous. Similarly the saloon show.

The Gran Teatro show isn’t really in keeping but it’s normally so good I can forgive its lack of area-appropriate theme. I guess the dinosaurs have gone from Polynesia now that Rec is year-round. Returning Sea Odyssey back to its original style also feels like something which would be a positive. Perhaps a few upgrades to go along with it.

At the moment there are a few areas of the park which have theme inappropriate content. It’s a real shame to see these once beautiful and enveloping areas have daft stuff shoehorned into them.

Late last year the PortAventura fansites had revealed that the Parks (PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land) would be opening year round from the start of the 2020 season however this week the opening calendars for the parks and hotels have been released which all show the parks closing for the normal 8 week period between seasons.

I don't know whether this rumour was correct and then the decision has been reversed or its still up in the air but by the looks of things the parks will be closing in late January again...

PortAventura have today announced the park will not open on 27th March and stayed closed 'indefinitely' due to coronavirus.

It's also worth mentioning PortAventura have said in their statement that they'll extend all Annual Passes for the duration that the Parks are closed.

I knew that rumour about PA opening year round wouldn’t be true. They’ve shortened their season skid over the past few years, as well as their opening hours.

NEW: In the Streets of PortAventura World
This week PortAventura released one of their new songs for the 25th season; 'In the Streets of PortAventura' sung by the resorts artists, with an added message of reminding everyone to stay safe at home.


NEW: Indoor Pass Experience
On Monday 20th April PortAventura will be releasing the Indoor Pass Experience, an on-line area where you can discovery recipes from the parks and hotels, special viewings of PortAventura shows and a behind the scenes look at the resorts attractions.

NEW: Convention Centre Expansion
"PortAventura Business & Events has carried out an ambitious 6,000 m² expansion of its Convention Centre’s infrastructure, reaching 20,000 m² in total with an investment of €11,000,000. This important new addition highlights the decisive commitment of PortAventura Business & Events to innovation and growth.

The new Convention Centre building is fully integrated into the landscape, together with the existing building, offers a new room, called “Sala Roma”, that can be separated into three separate sections with a total area of 2,110 m², and with a capacity to welcome more than 2,000 people. This new space is naturally-lit, just like the rest of the rooms and common spaces in the Convention Centre. It is also surrounded by terraces and Mediterranean-style gardens offering unbeatable views of both the sea and the golf courses. The new extension also includes 880 m² kitchen that complements the existing one located on the centre’s ground floor.

The building’s new extension has been incorporated into the Mediterranean surroundings, taking into account objectives such as sustainability and environmental friendliness. The use of natural resources and the minimisation of impact on the landscape has been a priority from the very beginning."

As today marks the 25th Anniversary of PortAventura, the resort have updated their website with a little more information as to what we can expect this year. (Presuming the parks open at all).

When do you people think PortAdventura will reopen again? I was hoping to go back and do Shammy B and all the others this year!

I don’t think anyone can answer that question right now to be honest.

Even if it opens, you’ll have to wait for the British Foreign Office to allow foreign tourism travel again before you can even begin to think about going. People can guess/have their opinion when but it’s certainly not concrete or factual until announced.

Port Aventura struggle to operate a Theme Park at the best of times, I dread to think how bad it would be to visit there during this crisis.

If I do get to go, I'll probably use a pleasure beach pass as that can get you a free day. It's a bucket list park for me and Shambhala has been a bucket list coaster for a long time along with Taron and Helix. I've seen some reviews and all I get is:
.Shambhala- Best Coaster on Park
. Dragon Khan- Depends
. Stampida- Sometimes rough
.Furius Baco- Shaky and jolty.

When do you people think PortAdventura will reopen again? I was hoping to go back and do Shammy B and all the others this year!

PortAventura's Lumine Golf & Beach Club reopened last week and it has been strongly rumoured by press (awaiting confirmation from PortAventura World) that the three PortAventura Parks will open on July 1st. This seems plausible as a lot of the other Spanish attractions are reopening around that time too.

'PortAventura World is preparing for the reopening of its three parks - PortAventura, Ferrari Land and Costa Caribe - on 1 July. The company is already selling tickets on its website and enabling reservations from that date in each of its seven hotels, although it warns that the opening date and times are subject to change as they may cause exceptional measures of the containment effects of COVID-19. As Diari Més has learned, the parks could open with capacity limitations, so tickets will be sold online and some of the shows could be canceled for the time being.' Diari

I've seen some reviews and all I get is:

. Dragon Khan- Depends
. Stampida- Sometimes rough
.Furius Baco- Shaky and jolty.

Agree with that, bang on point. It's a great park if you go at the right time, don't go when they are expecting to be heaving as it'll be very unpleasant.

I personally am in a minority (on this forum) in that I really enjoy Stampida and Baco.

Go with an open mind and don’t jump on the hatred bandwagon. You’ll be able to make your own mind up.

PA certainly does have its problems with operations, although they are nowhere near the worst I’ve seen by any means. The park itself is beautiful and has a solid coaster lineup with some great theming and really atmospheric areas.

It lacks dark rides and the flat rides and water rides feel a bit dated by today’s standards but are still enjoyable.

I hope this helps. Spain as a whole doesn’t get mentioned a huge amount but does have several pretty decent parks so you could combine your PA visit with Tibidabo (Barcelona) or get a cheap internal flight to Madrid, where there’s two theme parks (one very good, one average)

From what I've heard, they have staggered openings which is a bit of a problem especially as most people apparently rush to Furius Baco as it's the first main coaster you see.

The staggered openings aren’t as bad as they used to be by any means. They’re also now posted on the park’s website which never used to be the case.

Baco should definitely be avoided in the morning. The 3pm hour is always the quietest time to head to Baco. Barely anyone is in that section of the park and it’s nearly always walk on.
