PortAventura: General Discussion

We were there last week for the first time and overall it was a fantastic trip. Parks weren't too busy although a lot of school trips which also caused some problems at our resort hotel for some, apparently going round banging on doors in the middle of the night.

Operations overall were OK, better than expected. Shambhala is definitely my new favourite coaster and red force not far behind although it's got incredibly rough to say it's only 5 years old, compared to Dragon Khan which is nearing 30 years old and still pretty comfortable. Furius baco and stampida were unbearably rough and definitely not re-rideable.

As mentioned above, Ferrari land really shouldn't be a second gate park as it can be done in a few hours so we went later in the day which meant it was near enough empty, did Red force 8 times!

Would never want to go in summer though as can imagine those cattle pens being a bit stuffy, some more indoor attractions with air conditioning needed, Street mission is an awesome dark ride.

Just seen this from PCW.News on Facebook, suggesting that PA may be constructing a new coaster:

Port Aventura is building a new roller coaster!
Spanish theme park Port Aventura is currently pouring the footers for their new roller coaster. At the moment we have no information about the ride model. It will be located in the Far West area of the park.

Not sure that there have been any rumours of a new coaster?

Not sure that there have been any rumours of a new coaster?

The park has mentioned a “new coaster novelty” within Europe coming within the next few years in previous press releases. Current rumours include an Intamin Hot Racer (Intamin’s more family-friendly RMC Raptor lookalike) and a Vekoma Tilt Coaster.

The rumours I'd heard / read was that is was going to be a dark ride not a coaster. Unless it's to be an indoor coaster in which case both would be true.

Guys I take it the Templo del fuego is not on at the moment? It doesn't show on the app

I know it's rare to see it open, also is the horror maze still open all year round too near tomahawk

Temple del Fuego is used as a walk through during halloween, but as far as I’m aware, it should be open (on peak days only) during the main season?

Anyone feel free to correct me if I’ve got this wrong.
Has anyone got any evidence that it's opened in the last 6 years at any time?

I haven’t seen it as TdF but the fire effects are all in working order, they were used when I visited in October last year for their horror maze

As has been for the last 5 years it's been run as a Summer Show and joins the other seasonal shows such as FiestAventura and Noches de Fuego en Tahiti from late June - September and then returns as Apocalipsis Maya in October.

Horror en Texas isn't open during the summer this year, it's been replaced by [REC] in Polynesia.
