PS4 or Xbox One

Thought of both, then looked at my ps3 gathering dust on the shelf and decided neither console brings anything amazingly new to the world of gaming
Will wait for ps5 I think ;)

Now this is an interesting post and sums up my feelings for the imminent next-gen consoles.

For the first time in a while, we're only getting souped-up versions of each console's predecessor.

When the original Saturn and Playstation came out, it was the first time CD gaming had really come into the fore. Yeah, I know a couple of others had done it before, but these two companies really pushed the medium.
Fast forward to PS2 and then the original Xbox and suddenly you had the added bonus of DVD playback. And then PS3 pushed Blu-Ray and also, along with Wii and Xbox, introduced motion-controlled gaming...

But as far as I can see, PS4 and Xbox One are only offering an improved version of what we've already got with both company's current machines. Go online, watch films, use movement and play games, just faster than you could before and looking better. All very nice but ultimately, as we all know, better graphics don't necessarily mean better games.

For the first time since I started gaming, I'm not gagging to buy a next-gen console the moment they come out. Not as I'll turn one down should anybody buy me one this Christmas, but I'm not in an uber rush to get either until the initial stock has been replenished and the inevitable 'teething' troubles with new machines have been fixed.
 
Why do play station send you an email every day trying to sell you a ps4 I don't want one

I expected it to be closer than this to be honest!
 
I am looking forward to the SteamBoxes.

AMD seem to be shaking up the Windows/Linux/SteamBoxes market with their new API that is in direct competition with DirectX, I understand it is 40% faster than using DirectX, and allows developers access to the graphics card, without needing to go through any loops.

I don't know a lot about it, but if it is Windows/Linux friendly, that can only be a good thing.

At the moment there just isn't enough games or software available for either to make them worth purchasing at the moment - in my opinion.
 
I got a PS4 on Sunday from Game. Plenty of stock, provided you are willing to part with £459 as they will only sell it in a bundle. But in the bundle you get Killzone, Lego Heros, 2 x Blu ray movies, a decent headset and mic, charging unit and vertical stand for the console.

Been playing Killzone on it and the graphics are superb. The console itself is well sexy and slim and whisper silent. The new controllers are fantastic, fit nicer in the hand, feel very robust and the touch pad on them works very well in games much to my surprise.

Overall, very very happy with it and a worthy upgrade from my PS3
 
I so badly want an Xbox One - voices call out to me every day when I walk past the Sound&Vision Cage at work...

However I'll be waiting a while I think. Hopefully until some form of price drop or until I think I can actually justify spending that much money on it :/
 
Well, new Sony Bravia TVs will render the PS4 obsolete with Sony's foray into Cloud based gaming.

Subscription based Playstation Now rolls out this summer in the US. I know there are gamers who are that good that a tiny bit of lag messes their performance up. I can't see this being suitable for all, but in terms of general gaming/casual gamers - I think this could be a winner!

Don't expect it EU for a while though:

I'm not at all surprised by the figures if I'm being honest. I know several people who have gone for PS4 and only one who went Xbox. I've held back on my PS4 due to the lack of games on launch as there weren't enough to make me buy it then. Watch Dogs being delayed confirmed my decision (plus I wanted to buy a DSLR camera).

However, both consoles will only get better when the full potential of the machines is used and better games are released.
 
I got a PS4 on launch day - the OS is leaps ahead of the PS3, it's blistering! Thing is though, there just weren't that many games that interested me. It also annoyed me that there was no Blu-Ray remote available, no video or photo storage, no DivX playback. So I sold it a week later and bought a WiiU - the WiiU is coming into it's own. Some great games at the moment.

I will get a PS4 again in the future but for now my PS3 and WiiU are sufficient.
 
I have recently brought the xbox one I admit it was a little expensive but when I got home and setup it up it was definitely worth £449.99.

The graphics are amazing but because of that the games take about 4-5 hours to download on to the console.

The kinect voice recognition is fine much better than the first kinect.

The only error is the touch sensitive on/off button because when I stand up or go near the button and my leg brushes the button in is so sensitive that it will turn off.

One of my friends has the ps4 and came around my house to try out the xbox one and said the button to console speed is much quicker and the controller feels a lot better.
 
i followed development of these from the initial presentations at e3 etc, i Had my heart set on the ps4 so sold my ps3 and put down a deposit..... That was until i was offered a gaming pc setup from a friend for £400. Now i'm looking back and wondered why i ever bothered with consoles to be honest! Apart from the pick up & play aspect of consoles, i can no longer think of a reason to own one.
 
Just a quickie. Finally bought a PS4 yesterday from Game and love it apart from the noise of the fan. After a while, it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Watching a DVD/Blu-Ray movie is difficult cos the fan over-rides the sound on the TV. And I thought the 360 fan was loud.

So is this normal?
