Ranking The Six Flag mega chain parks you've been to...

Have just gotten back from Canada and the United States and ticked off another four parks from the merged chain, plus returned to another two parks.

So I thought I'd try and rank the lot of them with a few words about each..

1) Cedar Point

The park that re sparked my roller coaster enthusiasm, seems mad to think now I've visited on four separate occasions. Has a top five coasters any of which would be the best coaster in 99% of parks. Just gutted I missed Sirens Curse by 2 weeks.

2) Six Flags Fiesta Texas

Certainly the most unique location what with it being built inside a quarry. A beautiful park to walk around, and that first drop on Iron Rattler is amazing.

3) Kings Island

Overshadowed by its sister park to the north but it has a great layout, and probably the best collection of wooden coasters in the world. Plus The Beast which just comes alive at night.

4) Canada's Wonderland

Another ex Paramount park filled with charm, plus a hyper and a giga coaster. The best dive machine. And a mountain somehow having four coasters going over, through, and under it.

5) Six Flags Great America

Chock full of B+Ms including the first Batman and an early hyper which is very different to most others. Again well laid out.

6) Six Flags Over Texas

The original Six Flags park, filled with theme park firsts. Beautiful park in places (not the DC area), and you can laugh at The Cowboys whilst going up the lift hills of New Texas Giant and Titan.

7) Six Flags Great Adventure

Would've been higher 12 months ago but Kingda Ka going leaves the park missing a headline coaster. Hopefully whatever they've got planned is a fitting replacement. The other rides going hasn't helped either. Still got a good collection of coasters and i hope the re-tracking of El Toro can bring it back to what it was.

8) Kings Dominion

Kings Island Jnr, probably a bit clouded as i305 was closed when I went. However its still a very strong park but was missing that headliner. Grizzly however was an absolute hidden gem of a coaster.

9) Dorney Park

Was ridiculously hot when I visited which never helps. Talon was the best coaster, nice to walk around though.

10) Six Flags St Louis

Genuinely a lovely park to explore, just let down by the overall ride line up. American Thunder was down when I went as well.

11) Six Flags Darien Lake

A bit like St Louis but whilst that park had a batman clone and Mr Freeze this park didn't. Ride Of Steel was alright, and the bits of Predator that had been Titan Tracked was good. When the boomerang was the third best open coaster it's never a good sign.

12) Six Flags America

Not hard to see why its closing, batwing ran one train then ceased operation for the day. Ride Of Steel I got to sit in the train at least before it then closed for the day. Roar never opened. The SLC did operate until I was at the airgates then that broke down for the day. Wild One was a good wooden coaster. The park entrance was nice but that was about it until the brand new Steam Town area.

So how does everyone else rank the Six Flags parks they've experienced?

Not sure I can rank all of the ones that I have been to, but my top 3 would likely be Cedar Point, Kings Island and Six Flags Magic Mountain. I would have had Great Adventure up there too, but it was dire last year and they no longer have Ka.

Cedar Point and Magic Mountain are just brilliant parks for coasters. Whereas Kings Island has a good mix of coasters in a really nice environment; certainly feels more of a theme park.

Only been to 3 but here we go...

1. Cedar Point - Genuinely lives up to the hype, if you're a coaster enthusiast this is still ground zero and should be top of everybody's bucket list. Its a phenomenal park in a great setting and whilst not every single coaster quite lived up to the hype the majority were incredible and well worth the trip.

2. Six Flags Great Adventure - Not the prettiest park in the world and some parts of it are looking a little tired but has some world class coasters that will keep me going back, I've been lucky to of gone here twice now and although It'll be sad not seeing Ka on that skyline anymore I can't wait to see what they replace it with.

3. Six Flags Magic Mountain - Visited here back in 2019 but only had about 7 hours in the park so it was a little rushed and I didn't really get time to absorb it in the way I'd like to. I managed to get on each coaster once, rides like X2 and Tatsu really stood out whilst others were forgettable. Definitely on my bucket list to go back at some point.

I try to avoid Six Flags parks unless they've got at least one coaster that's worth doing, so haven't been to many.

1. Kings Island - Orion, Diamondback, Mystic Timbers and The Beast are all great. Rest of the line up is solid too. The park has a great atmosphere and doesn't get ridiculously busy like Cedar Point.

2. Cedar Point - the coaster line up is doing some heavy lifting here, as it's not a great park. Gets huge crowds and struggles to manage them even with the amount of rides they have. The staff are great and work hard on dispatches but they sell far too many Fast Lanes.

3. Six Flags Great Adventure - Only been once and it was brilliant. Nice mix of rides and a good atmosphere. Not sure how it would hold up now without the presence of Kingda Ka.

4. Knotts Berry Farm - A very well rounded park but I don't rate the coaster line up. I like the history and tradition of the place though.

5. Kings Dominion - Had a full day and night here during their Halloween event and thoroughly enjoyed it. Missed most of the coasters due to I305 existing and being a walk on.

6. Magic Mountain - Some great coasters but completely lacking in atmosphere. Rude staff, rubbish ops and inconsistent ride availability.

7. Six Flags Great America - Lots of good but not great coasters. Nicer vibe than Magic Mountain but don't ever intend to go back unless they build something incredible.
