RetroEscapes Las Vegas

Blue sky pipe dream. Won't happen.

Almost certainly true but given that, the concept of basing each land on the manufactured nostalgic version of a given decade is actually pretty good. In theme park terms it's like IP that everyone is familiar with except you don't have to pay for it, like a modern version of the fairy tales Disney used as the source material for much of his early work.

I laughed at the video just showing a picture of a Blockbuster Video as one of the slides. As much as I did enjoy going there as a kid I'm not entirely sure how a theme park attraction based on renting VHS tapes could work.

Sounds very much like this to me too.

"Look everyone.....we've got a really cool idea we'd like to make a reality. Money? This is the thing..... we don't have it. Anyone fancy investing?"

The video itself feels like a teenager doing something for a class project. Not professional in the slightest.

File this one under 'London Resort'.

It's not even that. This is almost on par with the kid using AI for RLP or w/e it was called and Oakwood.

You're probably right and I was being too kind to them.

Nice to have a dream I guess but yeah that looks like a massive pipe dream.

Can't see there being a huge demand for a themepark in Vegas either. People go there to party and gamble. Its not exactly a family destination.

It has become more of a family destination over the years though, indoor theme park, and the boobies have been put away in most of the shows now...lots of magic and circus instead...
Not that this is likely to take off mind.

This is Pop Century resort at Disneyworld!

Seems to be the same idea, though this supposed, theoretical park would have attractions which means a little more narrative effort (again, theoretically) than just decorating a pool.

I wonder how they're planning to do the "something goes wrong" dark ride trope in a historical context. Your ride vehicle is slowly cruising through a Blockbuster Video when all of a sudden, newsflash! The Gulf War just started!

if it happens I would guess it would be a flop, there is already an indoor theme park (that is a flop) and whenever a thrill ride gets added it normally isn't popular, my guess is that people who are gamblers aren't a good match for theme parks so they never have bothered going on the rides, leading to their failure

Could I see a themepark happening (Ignoring the AI, and company behind this)?
Las Vegas (from what I have heard) is not doing too well, and they are putting up massive amounts of money for events such as F1, and mega projects such as the dome trying to deviate away from the gambling city it is known as, so I could see them wanting to push it to become more of a vacation destination, but I don't think there is a good market so I doubt it will get investors.

I'm not sure why you'd assume AdventureDome is a flop? It's been going for over 30 years and remains one of the largest indoor US amusement parks. It can have daily attendance of between 30 and 40k in peak season (I went in March and it was hectic, and as a consequence deeply unpleasant). Ultimately, it's not a full-day theme park. It's generally a secondary attraction attached to a budget tourism hotel that gets rolled into the multi-attraction tickets. I can see why they don't invest because no matter what, they'll always get people through that grubby front door. It's not a failure. It's just a stagnant asset that brings in consistent revenue.

Las Vegas pivoting to becoming a vacation destination isn't a new notion, either. They've been doing this for years beyond the Sphere and bringing in the F1. Every hotel is a destination in its own right with an 80% occupancy rate throughout the year. The show calendar is stacked. The Big Apple Coaster gets around 1.4m riders per year (never again. Tear it down, wretched thing).

If investors truly believed there was no market, they would not be financing resort upgrades and entertainment projects, pumping money into experiential / non-gaming parts of hotel operations, or buying into properties and infrastructure.

There is investor confidence in the city, and the market is there for this sort of thing, but just not this AI-generated, fabricated claptrap.

Vegas is still known as sin city and for a reason. It's the number 1 Hen and Stag (or Bachelor and bachelorette) location in the entire US. It's where most people go to party and gamble and be child free for a few days before returning to their every day lives and jobs. I don't buy that it's becoming a family destination at all. It's roots will always be the same.

The Horror Unleashed thing hasn't even taken off that well either has it? Reviews are quite negative and that's just a midway style attraction. A full day outdoors theme park in my opinion wouldn't work in Vegas. The heat would be a massive issue for starters. End of June into July & August would be unbearable. You're in a desert for starters. Hahaha!

Radio Four in the middle of the night stated very clearly that the people may be there, but they aren't spending like they did.

Talk of waiting for the Great Orange One to crash the whole economy.
