On my last visit, (also my first), Air, Rita and Oblivion all experienced delays due to technical difficulties while we were queuing. Is this normal or are me and my friends cursed with bad luck?

Ride breakdowns!

Rides are machines and unfortunately, have temperamental moments!
If it was hot during your visit, there's a chance that extra problems might have occurred owing to the temperature?
Its very unlucky to have all those breakdowns in one day! Hope you still had fun

Ah yes, the weather did get a bit warmer later in the day so maybe that was it.
It was still fairly cool when we went on Air though, so yes maybe we do just have really bad luck!
Bonus was- everyone in front of us got fed up and left before the ride was working again!

That is normally an upside! Lots of people leave queues when in reality most problems are fixed within 15-20 minutes. If its going to be any longer, they normally try and communicate that fact so people are not stood waiting for too long!OblivionMakesMeSmilier said:
Rita broke down as we were next in line when I was there... utter pain in the arse, it was roasting and the station has no cover so I ended up with sunburn. They couldn't fix it, so half an hour later, they gave us all Fastrack tickets to go on one ride of our choice. Ended up going on Rita with it after they'd fixed it later in the day. Was not the most impressive ride ever, although it was my first launch coaster.
