Scarefest 2015

I am sure that the gate figures dont quite show it, but I personally think that this years scarefest was the best for a few years. The Mazes were good and varied and the park atmosphere was good. The ancestors were excellent. Most non geeks I spoke to liked the new scare zones. I went to the park 7 times during the event, where last year I went twice and did the mazes 3 times wher last year I did them once.

Well done Towers.

I think they certainly had a smashing Scarefest, considering they had no free mazes, managed to shift a lot of maze tickets, and build queues for them even on the quieter Scarefest days. The fact that the public turned out in force at a time the park is facing hard times, paid to get in, and paid again on top of that in their droves to enter the mazes, means investment in Scarefest will surely be a big focus again next year.

So despite overall attendance being down on previous Scarefests, a good return would still have been made on the mazes, and lower attendance probably also lead to a better atmosphere, as it wasn't uncomfortably busy on any day other than Halloween really. Even Halloween wasn't too awful, queues only really got outrageous in the Dark Forest due to an extended downtime of Rita, which knocks on to Th13teen queue times, and then Rita itself once it reopened. Other major rides peaked about 45 minutes, but otherwise were as low as 10-30 minutes for large parts of the day.

Talking to someone the other day. Turns out they've been to scarefest the other day. This is the Same person who was saying the place was a death trap a couple of months ago, and that it should be closed down. Not only did they pay full gate price to get in for two days, they also took their young son (6) on the rides. They went because of scarefest.

I've seen a big push on social media encouraging guests to fill in the Scarefest survey. I'm betting on them using positive feedback and strong sales on the pay-for scare attractions to really secure the 2016 budget.

I haven't got much to say about Scarefest this year that hasn't already been covered. The Ancestors have been great, they were really good on Saturday when Duel was closed briefly, they kept the crowds entertained and in high spirits. Park atmosphere has been great. Lighting is better than the last few years although we're still a far cry away from 2010s lighting. The new audio is great across the park. I'm really fond of the new Towers Street audio, it wasn't really something I thought needed changing although now that it's different it's quite a welcome change. It's actually quite a 'magical' piece.

I liked the cauldron in ATH garden too, very nice. It was quite amusing watching two poor sods trying to remove it this morning though. Rolling the cauldron to their vehicle to only realise the cauldron was too big to fit on it!

I was disappointed to see no theming over at the lodges. Just a few pumpkins in the centre of each group of lodges would look good. I think the main building could have done with more around it too. It looked pretty pants compared to ATH and Splash's Scarefest themed entrances.

I'm really disappointed with ATH's evening entertainment. I'm really sorry about those two girls, but their singing was awful. I've heard better in cheap holiday parks. In fact I'm seen better shows in cheap holiday parks. Bring back the band for gods sake! Or find good singers and create something more exciting. The same show every night isn't good either, at least have two show nights in place for guests who stay longer. Splash's evening entertainment however was good.

Was it just me or was the music for scarefest poor this year expect from tott

I thought all the music was good (first scarefest though, so I havnt heard the overuse of TotT audio). Molly Crowe music was perfect, though would have been better if it suddenly came on whilst your walking round the maze as well. Sub species was good, but not that memorable. It suited the maze, though should lose the "darth Vader" as it didn't really add much for me.

I agree audio wasn't great beyond ToTT and the new Towers Street music. The event as a whole was terrible though, definitely the worst Halloween event I've been to in the country. At least they got Fireworks right.

Although this was my first Scarefest i went to others round the country and would definitely disagree with your statement( everyone's opinions differ tho)
I'm not sure where the post is but didn't nick say the 'Darth Vader' sound was being removed from the music? When i went on the final day it was still present imo it overpowered the rest of the music in that area

Scarefest this year was amazing, quite possibly the best trip to towers (or any theme park) I've ever been on. I loved it. The mazes were a whole new experience for me. The scarezones were really good laughs (especially with someone who is terrified of zombies). The general park atmosphere was magical. Massively enjoyed it and will definitely visiting next year, and if it was up to me, I would have made several visits this year.

Question - did anyone else notice the boiler house poster on the chainsaw exit of sub species?

It could be an easter egg since they did post all of there previous mazes before the event

I've been just about every year, and with the exception of 2014 running only 2 mazes, this years event was the smallest event in it's history. The Scare Zones were so bad they were laughable, at least last year even with only 2 mazes the Scary Tales scare zone actually had some theming and was a free experience for anyone who didn't want to purchase additional tickets.

Tulley's, Scare Kingdom, Hallowscream, Scare Grounds, Scream Factory, Scream Fest plus countless other events completely p!ssed all over Towers this year. Even Thorpe had more going on. I've sworn never to go to Alton Towers for Halloween ever again it was that bad. It simply isn't worth the price and doesn't offer enough in the way of experiences or entertainment the way everywhere else does.

i haven't been to any of them tbh and you obviously have more experience of Scarefest than me but your in the minority of people with bad reviews of Scarefest this year it seems. Either way i hope Towers read comments like this and take the feedback on board and make changes where required
