Scarefest 2025

Also, the three thrill mazes all have one shot Fastrack available, at just £5 pp. A valid maze combo or one shot entry ticket is required, of course. They can be purchased on the app or at the park.
Surely they’re not going to add fastrack to an attraction which already has two barriers of payment to even enter the attraction? Do you have a source for this?

Whenever I’ve done a maze the queue is like 5-10 minutes tops so having a fastrack is only going to bottleneck the attraction…

It's within each maze's profile on the app.

Single shot Fastrack for Thrill mazes are available for purchase within the Alton Towers app.

So in future...
"BOO...That is now twenty pounds please, as I said it quickly."
I always thought the copying of the yanks at this time of year was commercial overload, and now they will be paying extra to get further ripped off with five minute mazes.

Money money money.

Literally.

Has anyone ever seen the Scare Mazes on more than hour certain rides it's a waist of money to buy fastrack like Curse at Alton Manor or some smaller ride

So far we've got:

The remade hearse from last year at the bottom of Towers Street
Franklin/signpost for the Courtyard Tavern.
Marmalised Gretyl on the path into X-Sector.
Franklin filling up the fountain in Fountain Square
Zombob and Phil putting up bunting on the Towers.
Patch and Skelvin coming out of the coffins on the path between Battle Galleons and the Towers
Patch's Pumpkin Delivery float on the Towers lawns
Gretyl and Vampurr sitting on the bank in front of the Katanga Canyon sign.

That's a pretty big jump in the Freaky Friends' on-park presence in the space of a year. I guess even the higher ups couldn't ignore the amount of merch they shifted with the characters on.

The marmalised Gretyl includes one of the Smiler pumpkins, so I wonder if we'll end up with similar pieces for the others at some point
Is there anything Scarefest related in World of David Walliams feels like that area never really has event stuff.

Also its a shame that the Resort side is not part of scare fest anymore like they could do something with the water park or hotels again the Scare Mazes used to be over there and had a lot more room to work with

I don’t think the optics of adding fastrack to a second gate attraction is necessarily a good one, especially with the time limit on the combi tickets being so tight.

I get that this is now the park’s most profitable season and that they’re going to milk it for as much as they can, but there’s a big reputational risk with doing so. As far as I’m aware no other theme park offers both fastrack and paid entry for the mazes.

If it also get introduced at Thorpe too, then I’m going to assume that this is another push from Merlin trying to centralise things, that particularly makes me feel bad for the staff on the ground who are going to have to deal with any fallout…

It’s going to push the scare community away from the event, especially with HHN now inbound and the explosion of so many independent events across the country.

There’s a new reel up from towers on Insta showing snippets of rides in the dark and some scare attractions. The Edge of the Forest sign was lit up in green and Dark Hollow has a light up sign as well. It definitely looks like it runs on the wooded path behind the main path that you go to EOTF

Looks like the resort have invited just about every Live Laugh Love influencer along for the opening day of Scarefest according to the park’s instagram stories. Maybe I’m getting too old and “off trend”, but do people really follow random families for day trip inspiration? I just can’t imagine myself reaching out to an instafluencer’s page when my daughter asks me what shall we do today Daddy.

Family channels are big money.

Though just make sure you're not abusing the kids for revenue.

Fastrack for the mazes does bring it all in line with many other parks and independent events having a "skip the line" ticket. Though given you've already got to pay for the mazes it'll leave a bad taste in the mouth.

Lot to be said for not liking them. More time for Nemesis at night.

It’s because a lot of the spending power within family groups (one of the park’s key demographics) is Millennial Women. They are the ones who first popularised Instagram when they were in High School/University and now many have children of their own. Which is why the park’s content feels very ‘Millennial’ compared to a lot of other social media content. The park have to invite so many micro-influencers because there’s no monoculture anymore, historically the park has always invited reality TV show ‘celebrities’ to these events and this is just the evolution of that pattern.

Whilst Gen Z dominate social media trends at the moment, they aren’t the key big spenders that Alton Towers want to attract.

You also forget the nerd channels will also be out in full force tonight, just the park isn’t going to just share all the content from accounts with ‘Coaster’ or ‘Towers’ in the name…

Happy Scarefest eve everyone! I’ve got a quietly good feeling about this one - something I haven’t had in multiple years now! I’m not visiting until Friday but I hope everyone going this weekend has a great time (and it lives up to it!)
