Strange questions that sometimes need answering (or not asking in the first place really).

65 to 75% once you include the VAT...
So your £1.50 a litre, a quid goes to the taxman.
I thought that the 55% included the VAT, but without bothering to check, either of those numbers are silly really for our country. I think my dream is to live in a village in the countryside and have a job that can be reached by bicycle. A nearby town will be a 10-15 minute drive away. Vehicle fuel will be something I won't really have to consider as it will be an occasional thing. Even better, there will be no need for my own vehicle and I'll not have to pay vehicle tax, insurance MOT etc. Just need good delivery services and bus/coach/train travel. That's where the spanner comes into the works.

Studio gigs are so scarce these days, that a few of the ladies I work with, including my "BBC sister" (started the same day, a quarter century ago) are seriously talking about getting "free money for selling feet pictures online". 🤦‍♂️

.... and just what are us ugly blokes supposed to do to make ends meet‽

Would your job give you the sort of transferable skills to work on Netflix dramas and the like?

Granted, I don’t know much about the industry, but that style of programme is hugely popular at the moment, so I’d be surprised if there’s a shortage of work. There are also plenty of studios in and around London (if I remember rightly, you’re London-based, aren’t you?).

I guess your work colleagues raise a point in that those sorts of avenues are an option… people are into all sorts that you could theoretically monetise. Although whether you’d want to is another thing entirely… it wouldn’t be for me at all, but each to their own!

Sadly, my particular set of skills is so finely-honed, yet narrow, that it doesn't transfer to single-camera drama, or film. Multi-camera studio shows / OBs are the only thing I can do.

Here's a thing I've noticed.

Car theft. Local Facebook groups.

Normally folk when a car is stolen, you ring the police. On our local page, the thing is to announce it. With the reg, details and a rather excellent photo of the car. Like an autistic trader Image.

Is this just a west Yorkshire thing?

It's a request for anyone who may have seen it. Some stolen cars are parked in the vicinity for a few days.

The police will be contacted for insurance reasons but in reality won't help so no harm asking for other people to look out.

Everything gets reported on our local 'spotted' page, so definitely not. Literally everything from Mary's Fiat Panda had an inappropriate drawing on it to Mike's bike being nicked and then returned three days later.
However none of them beat me person favourite 'just had this picture from a currier, they've delivered my parcel to the wrong person, does anybody recognises these feet', sends picture of said parcel in a picture with somebody's feet just inside their door. 😂
